The severe judgment of God against Babylon in revenge of Israel.1 ¶ Thus² saithºª the LORD;º Behold,² I will raise upºª against² Babylon,º and against² them that dwellºª in the midstº of them that rise upºª against me, a destroyingºª wind;º 2 And will sendºª unto Babylonº fanners,ºª that shall fanºª her, and shall emptyºª² her land:º for² in the dayº of troubleº they shall be² against² her round about.º² 3 Against² [him that] bendethºª let the archerºª bendºª his bow,º and against² [him that] lifteth himself upºª in his brigandine:º and spareºª ye not² her young men;º destroy ye utterlyºª all² her host.º 4 Thus the slainº shall fallºª in the landº of the Chaldeans,º and [they that are] thrust throughºª in her streets.º 5 For² Israelº [hath] not² [been] forsaken,º nor Judahº multitudeº of watersº in the heavens;º and he causeth the vapoursº to ascendºª from the endsº² of the earth:º he makethºª lightningsº with rain,º and bringeth forthºª the windº out of his treasures.º² 17 Every² manº is brutishºª by [his] knowledge;º² every² founderºª is confoundedºª by the graven image:º² for² his molten imageº [is] falsehood,º and [there is] no² breathº in them. 18 They² [are] stoneº for a corner,º nor a stoneº for foundations;º but² thou shalt be² desolateº for ever,º saithºª the LORD.º 27 Set ye upºª a standardº in the land,º blowºª the trumpetº among the nations,º prepareºª the nationsº against² her, call togetherºª against² her the kingdomsº of Ararat,º Minni,º and Ashchenaz;º appointºª a captainº against² her; cause the horsesº to come upºª as the roughº caterpillers.º 28 Prepareºª against² her the nationsº with² the kingsº of the Medes,º² the captainsº thereof, and all² the rulersº thereof, and all² the landº of his dominion.º 29 And the landº shall trembleºª and sorrow:ºª for² every purposeº of the LORDº shall be performedºª against² Babylon,º to makeºª² the landº of Babylonº a desolationº without²² an inhabitant.ºª 30 The mighty menº of
