1 Moreover, the word° of the LORD° came° to me saying°, 2 “And you, son° of man°, atake° up a lamentation° over° Tyre°; 3 and say° to Tyre°, awho dwells° at the Ientrance° to the sea°, bmerchant° of the peoples° to many° coastlands°, ‘Thus° says° the Lord° IIGOD°,
  “O Tyre°, you have said°, ‘I am perfect° in beauty°.’
  4 “Your borders° are in the heart° of the seas°;
  Your builders° have perfected° your beauty°.
  5 “They have Imade° all° [your] planks° of fir° trees° from aSenir°;
  They have taken° a cedar° from Lebanon° to make° a mast° for you.
  6 “Of aoaks° from bBashan° they have made° your oars°;
  With ivory° they have Iinlaid° your deck° of boxwood° from the coastlands° of cCyprus°.
  7 “Your sail° was of fine° embroidered° linen° from Egypt°
  So that it became° your Idistinguishing° mark°;
  Your IIawning° was IIIablue° and purple° from the coastlands° of bElishah°.
  8 “The inhabitants° of Sidon° and aArvad° were your rowers°;

10 ¶ “aPersia° and aLud° and aPut° were in your army°, your men° of war°. They hung° shield° and helmet° in you; they set° forth your splendor°. 11 The sons° of Arvad° and your army° were on your walls°, [all] around°, and the IGammadim° were in your towers°. They hung° their shields° on your walls° [all] around°; they perfected° your beauty°.

Many° coastlands° were Iyour market°; bivory° tusks° and ebony° they brought° as your payment°. 16 aAram° was your customer° because° of the abundance° of your Igoods°; they paid° for your wares° with bemeralds°, purple°, cembroidered° work°, fine° linen°, coral° and rubies°. 17 Judah° and the land° of Israel°, they were your traders°; with the wheat° of aMinnith°, Icakes°, honey°, oil° and balm° they paid° for your merchandise°. 18 aDamascus° was your customer° because of the abundance° of your Igoods°, because° of the abundance° of all° [kinds] of wealth°, because of the wine° of Helbon° and white° wool°. 19 Vedan° and Javan° paid° for your wares° Ifrom Uzal°; wrought° iron°, cassia° and IIsweet° cane° were among your merchandise°. 20 aDedan° traded° with you in saddlecloths°° for riding°. 21 aArabia° and all° the princes° of Kedar°, they were Iyour customers° for blambs°, rams° and goats°; for these they were your customers°. 22 The traders° of aSheba° and Raamah°, they traded° with you; they paid° for your wares° with the best° of all° [kinds] of bspices°, and with all° [kinds] of precious° stones° and gold°. 23 Haran°, Canneh°, aEden°, the traders° of Sheba°, Asshur° [and] Chilmad° traded° with you. 24 They traded° with you in choice° garments°, in clothes° of Iblue° and embroidered° work°, and in carpets° of many° colors° [and] tightly° wound° cords°, [which were] among your merchandise°. 25 The aships° of Tarshish° were Ithe carriers° for your merchandise°.

  26 ¶ “Your rowers° have brought° you
  Into agreat° waters°;
  The beast° wind° has broken° you
  In the heart° of the seas°.
  27 “Your wealth°, your wares°, your merchandise°,
  Your sailors° and your pilots°,
  Your repairers° of seams°, your dealers° in merchandise°
  And all° your men° of war° who° are in you,
  With all° your company° that is in your midst°,
  Will fall° into the heart° of the seas°
  On the day° of your overthrow°.
  28 “At the sound° of the cry° of your pilots°
  The pasture° lands° will ashake°.
  29 “All° who handle° the oar°,
  The asailors° [and] all° the pilots° of the sea°
  Will come° down° from their ships°;
  They will stand° on the land°,
  30 And they will amake° their voice° heard° over° you
  And will cry° bitterly°.
  They will bcast° dust° on their heads°,
  They will cwallow° in ashes°.
  31 “Also they will make° themselves abald°° for you
  And bgird° themselves with sackcloth°;
  And they will cweep° for you in bitterness° of soul°
  With bitter° mourning°.
  32 “Moreover, in their wailing° they will take° up a alamentation° for you
  And lament° over° you:
  ‘Who° is like Tyre°,
  Like her who° is silent° in the midst° of the sea°?
  33 ‘When your wares° went° out from the seas°,
  You satisfied° many° peoples°;
  With the aabundance° of your wealth° and your merchandise°
  You enriched° the kings° of earth°.
  34INow° that you are abroken° by the seas°
  In the depths° of the waters°,
  Your bmerchandise° and all° your company°
  Have fallen° in the midst° of you.
  35 ‘All° the ainhabitants° of the coastlands°
  Are appalled° at you,
  And their kings° are horribly° afraid°;
  They are troubled° in countenance°.
  36 ‘The merchants° among the peoples° ahiss° at you;
  You have become° Iterrified°
  And you bwill cease° to be forever°°.’”’”

The rich supply of Tyrus.

1 ¶ The wordº of the LORDº came² again unto² me, saying,ºª 2 Now, thou² sonº of man,º take upºª a lamentationº for² Tyrus;º 3 And sayºª unto Tyrus,º O thou that art situateºª at² the entryº of the sea,º [which art] a merchantºª of the peopleº for² manyº isles,º Thus² saithºª the Lordº GOD;º O Tyrus,º thou² hast said,ºª I² [am] of perfectº beauty.º 4 Thy bordersº [are] in the midstº of the seas,º thy buildersºª have perfectedºª thy beauty.º 5 They have madeºª² all² thy [ship] boardsº of fir treesº of Senir:º² they have takenºª cedarsº from Lebanonº² to makeºª mastsº for² thee. 6 [Of] the oaksº of Bashanº² have they madeºª thine oars;º the companyº of the Ashurites¹² have madeºª thy benchesº [of] ivory,º [brought] out of the islesº² of Chittim.º 7 Fine linenº with broidered workº from Egyptº² was² that which thou spreadest forthº to be² thy sail;º blueº and purpleº from the islesº² of Elishahº was² that which coveredº thee. 8 The inhabitantsºª of Zidonº and Arvadº were² thy mariners:ºª thy wiseº [men], O Tyrus,º [that] were² in thee, were thy pilots.º 9 The ancientsº of Gebalº and the wiseº [men] thereof were² in thee thy calkers:ººª all² the shipsº of the seaº with their marinersº were² in thee to occupy¹ª² thy merchandise.º 10 They of Persiaº and of Ludº and of Phutº were² in thine army,º thy men¹² of war:º they hangedºª the shieldº and helmetº in thee; they² set forthºª thy comeliness.º 11 The menº of Arvadº with thine armyº [were] upon² thy wallsº round about,º and the Gammadimsº were² in thy towers:º they hangedºª their shieldsº upon² thy wallsº round about;º they² have made¹ª thy beauty¹ perfect.ºª² 12 Tarshishº [was] thy merchantºª by reason of the multitudeº² of all² [kind of] riches;º with silver,º iron,º tin,º and lead,º they tradedºª in thy fairs.º 13 Javan,º Tubal,º and Meshech,º they² [were] thy merchants:ºª they tradedºª the personsº of menº and vesselsº of brassº in thy market.º 14 They of the houseº² of Togarmahº tradedºª in thy fairsº with horsesº and horsemenº and mules.º 15 The menº of Dedanº [were] thy merchants;ºª manyº islesº [were] the merchandiseº of thine hand:º they broughtºª thee [for] a presentº hornsº of ivoryº and ebony.º 16 Syriaº [was] thy merchantºª by reason of the multitudeº² of the wares of thy making:º they occupiedºª in thy fairsº with emeralds,º purple,º and broidered work,º and fine linen,º and coral,º and agate.º 17 Judah,º and the landº of Israel,º they² [were] thy merchants:ºª they tradedºª in thy marketº wheatº of Minnith,º and Pannag,º and honey,º and oil,º and balm.º 18 Damascusº [was] thy merchantºª in the multitudeº of the wares of thy making,º for the multitudeº² of all² riches;º in the wineº of Helbon,º and whiteº wool.º 19 Danºª¹ also and Javanº going to and froºª occupiedºª in thy fairs:º brightº iron,º cassia,º and calamus,º were² in thy market.º 20 Dedanº [was] thy merchantºª in preciousº clothesº for chariots.º 21 Arabia,º and all² the princesº of Kedar,º they² occupied¹ª with²² thee¹ in lambs,º and rams,º and goats:º in these [were they] thy merchants.ºª 22 The merchantsºª of Shebaº and Raamah,º they² [were] thy merchants:ºª they occupiedºª in thy fairsº with chiefº of all² spices,º and with all² preciousº stones,º and gold.º 23 Haran,º and Canneh,º and Eden,º the merchantsºª of Sheba,º Asshur,º [and] Chilmad,º [were] thy merchants.ºª 24 These² [were] thy merchantsºª in all sortsº [of things], in blueº clothes,º and broidered work,º and in chestsº of rich apparel,º boundºª with cords,º and made of cedar,º among thy merchandise.º 25 The shipsº of Tarshishº did singºª of thee in thy market:º and thou wast replenished,ºª and made very¹ gloriousºª² in the midstº of the seas.º

The great and irrevocable fall thereof.

26 ¶ Thy rowersºª have broughtºª thee into greatº waters:º the eastº windº hath brokenºª thee in the midstº of the seas.º 27 Thy riches,º and thy fairs,º thy merchandise,º thy mariners,º and thy pilots,º thy calkers,ººª and the occupiersºª of thy merchandise,¹² and all² thy men¹² of war,º that² [are] in thee, and in all² thy companyº which² [is] in the midstº of thee, shall fallºª into the midstº of the seasº in the dayº of thy ruin.º 28 The suburbsº shall shakeºª at the soundº of the cryº of thy pilots.º 29 And all² that handleºª the oar,º the mariners,º [and] all² the pilotsº of the sea,º shall come downºª from their ships,º² they shall standºª upon² the land;º 30 And shall cause their voiceº to be heardºª against² thee, and shall cryºª bitterly,º and shall cast upºª dustº upon² their heads,º they shall wallow¹ª themselves² in the ashes:º 31 And they shall make themselves utterly¹ baldºª² for² thee, and girdºª them with sackcloth,º and they shall weepºª for² thee with bitternessº of heartº [and] bitterº wailing.º 32 And in their wailingº they shall take upºª a lamentationº for² thee, and lamentºª over² thee, [saying], What² [city is] like Tyrus,º like the destroyedº in the midstº of the sea?º 33 When thy waresº went forthºª out of the seas,º² thou filledstºª manyº people;º thou didst enrichºª the kingsº of the earthº with the multitudeº of thy richesº and of thy merchandise.º 34 In the timeº [when] thou shalt be brokenºª by the seasº² in the depthsº of the watersº thy merchandiseº and all² thy companyº in the midstº of thee shall fall.ºª 35 All² the inhabitantsºª of the islesº shall be astonishedºª at² thee, and their kingsº shall be sore¹ afraid,ºª² they shall be troubledºª in [their] countenance.º 36 The merchantsºª among the peopleº shall hissºª at² thee; thou shalt be² a terror,º and never² [shalt be] any more.ºº
