  1 Save° me, O God°,
  For the awaters° have Ithreatened°° my life°.
  2 I have sunk° in deep° amire°, and there° is no° foothold°;
  I have come° into deep° waters°, and a Ibflood° overflows° me.
  3 I am aweary° with my crying°; my throat° is parched°;
  My beyes° fail° while I wait° for my God°.
  4 Those awho hate° me without° a cause° are more° than° the hairs° of my head°;
  Those who would Idestroy° me bare powerful°, being wrongfully° my enemies°;
  cWhat° I did not steal°, I then° have to restore°.

  5 ¶ O God°, it is You who knows° amy folly°,
  And bmy wrongs° are not hidden° from You.
  6 May those who wait° for You not abe ashamed° through me, O Lord° IGOD° of hosts°;
  May those who seek° You not be dishonored° through me, O God° of Israel°,
  7 Because° afor Your sake° I have borne° reproach°;
  bDishonor° has covered° my face°.
  8 I have° become° aestranged° Ifrom my brothers°
  And an alien° to my mother’s° sons°.
  9 For azeal° for Your house° has consumed° me,
  And bthe reproaches° of those who reproach° You have fallen° on me.

  13 ¶ But as for me, my prayer° is to You, O LORD°, aat an acceptable° time°;

  29 ¶ But I am aafflicted° and in pain°;

David complaineth of his affliction.

1 ¶ [[To the chief Musicianºª upon² Shoshannim,º [A Psalm] of David.]]º Saveºª me, O God;º for² the watersº are come¹ª in² unto² [my] soul.º 2 I sinkºª in deepº mire,º where [there is] no² standing:º I am comeºª into deepº waters,º where the floodsº overflowºª me. 3 I am wearyºª of my crying:ºª my throatº is dried:ºª mine eyesº failºª while I waitºª for my God.º 4 They that hateºª me without a causeº are moreºª than the hairsº² of mine head:º they that would destroyºª me, [being] mine enemiesºª wrongfully,º are mighty:ºª then² I restoredºª [that] which² I took not away.ºª² 5 O God,º thou² knowestºª my foolishness;º and my sinsº are not² hidºª from² thee. 6 Let not² them that wait¹ª on² thee, O Lordº GODº of hosts,º be ashamedºª for my sake: let not² those that seekºª thee be confoundedºª for my sake, O Godº of Israel.º 7 Because² for thy sake² I have borneºª reproach;º shameº hath coveredºª my face.º 8 I am become² a strangerºª unto my brethren,º and an alienº unto my mother'sº children.º 9 For² the zealº of thine houseº hath eaten me up;ºª and the reproachesº of them that reproachedºª thee are fallenºª upon² me. 10 When I wept,ºª [and chastened] my soulº with fasting,º that was² to my reproach.º 11 I madeºª sackclothº also my garment;º and I became² a proverbº to them. 12 They that sit² in¹ª the gateº speakºª against me; and I [was] the songº of the drunkards.ººª

He prayeth for deliverance.

13 But as for me,² my prayerº [is] unto thee, O LORD,º [in] an acceptableº time:º O God,º in the multitudeº of thy mercyº hearºª me, in the truthº of thy salvation.º 14 Deliverºª me out of the mire,º² and let me not² sink:ºª let me be deliveredºª from them that hateºª² me, and out of the deepº² waters.º 15 Let not² the waterfloodºº overflowºª me, neither² let the deepº swallow me up,ºª and let not² the pitº shutºª her mouthº upon² me. 16 Hearºª me, O LORD;º for² thy lovingkindnessº [is] good:º turnºª unto² me according to the multitudeº of thy tender mercies.º 17 And hideºª not² thy faceº from thy servant;º² for² I am in trouble:¹ª² hearºª me speedily.¹² 18 Draw nighºª unto² my soul,º [and] redeemºª it: deliverºª me because of² mine enemies.ºª 19 Thou² hast knownºª my reproach,º and my shame,º and my dishonour:º mine adversariesºª [are] all² before² thee. 20 Reproachº hath brokenºª my heart;º and I am full of heaviness:ºª and I lookedºª [for some] to take pity,ºª but [there was] none;² and for comforters,ºª but I foundºª none.² 21 They gaveºª me also gallº for my meat;º and in my thirstº they gave me vinegarº to drink.ºª

He denoteth his enemies with destruction.

He praiseth God with thanksgiving.

30 I will praiseºª the nameº of Godº with a song,º and will magnifyºª him with thanksgiving.º 31 [This] also shall pleaseºª the LORDº better¹ª than an oxº² [or] bullockº that hath hornsºª and hoofs.ºª 32 The humbleº shall seeºª [this, and] be glad:ºª and your heartº shall liveºª that seekºª God.º 33 For² the LORDº hearethºª² the poor,º and despisethºª not² his prisoners.º 34 Let the heavenº and earthº praiseºª him, the seas,º and every thing² that movethºª therein. 35 For² Godº will saveºª Zion,º and will buildºª the citiesº of Judah:º that they may dwellºª there,² and have it in possession.ºª 36 The seedº also of his servantsº shall inheritºª it: and they that loveºª his nameº shall dwellºª therein.
