A Prayer for Help, and Praise for Its Answer.

[A Psalm] of David.

  1 To You, O LORD°, I call°;
  My arock°, do not be deaf° to me,
  For if You bare silent° to me,
  I will become° like° those who cgo° down° to the pit°.
  2 Hear° the avoice° of my supplications° when I cry° to You for help°,
  When I blift° up my hands° ctoward° IYour holy° dsanctuary°.
  3 aDo not drag° me away° with the wicked°
  And with those who work° iniquity°,
  Who bspeak° peace° with their neighbors°,
  While evil° is in their hearts°.
  4 Requite° them aaccording to their work° and according to the evil° of their practices°;
  Requite° them according to the deeds° of their hands°;
  Repay° them their Irecompense°.
  5 Because° they ado not regard° the works° of the LORD°
  Nor° the deeds° of His hands°,
  He will tear° them down° and not build° them up.

David prayeth earnestly against his enemies.

1 ¶ [[[A Psalm] of David.]]º Unto² thee will I cry,ºª O LORDº my rock;º be not² silent¹ª² to² me: lest,² [if] thou be silentºª to² me, I become¹ª like²² them that go downºª into the pit.º 2 Hearºª the voiceº of my supplications,º when I cryºª unto² thee, when I lift upºª my handsº toward² thy holyº oracle.º 3 Draw² me not² away¹ª with² the wicked,º and with² the workersºª of iniquity,º which speakºª peaceº to² their neighbours,º but mischiefº [is] in their hearts.º 4 Giveºª them according to their deeds,º and according to the wickednessº of their endeavours:º giveºª them after the workº of their hands;º renderºª to them their desert.º 5 Because² they regardºª² not² the worksº of the LORD,º nor the operationº of his hands,º he shall destroyºª them, and not² build them up.ºª
