1 ¶ [[To the chief Musicianºª on Neginoth,º Maschil,ºª [A Psalm] of David.]]º Give earºª to my prayer,º O God;º and hide¹ª not thyself²² from my supplication.º² 2 Attendºª unto me, and hearºª me: I mournºª in my complaint,º and make a noise;ºª 3 Because of the voiceº² of the enemy,ºª becauseº² of the oppressionº of the wicked:º for² they castºª iniquityº upon² me, and in wrathº they hateºª me. 4 My heartº is sore painedºª withinº me: and the terrorsº of deathº are fallenºª upon² me. 5 Fearfulnessº and tremblingº are comeºª upon me, and horrorº hath overwhelmedºª me. 6 And I said,ºª Oh that¹ª² I had² wingsº like a dove!º [for then] would I fly away,ºª and be at rest.ºª 7 Lo,² [then] would I wanderºª far off,ºª [and] remainºª in the wilderness.º Selah.º 8 I would hastenºª my escapeº from the windyº² stormºª [and] tempest.º²
