The Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God.

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

  1 O God°, aYou are my God°; I shall seek° You Iearnestly°;
  My soul° bthirsts° for You, my flesh° IIyearns° for You,
  In a cdry° and weary° land° where there is no° water°.
  2 Thus° I have aseen° You in the sanctuary°,
  To see° Your power° and Your glory°.
  3 Because° Your alovingkindness° is better° than° life°,
  My lips° will praise° You.
  4 So° I will bless° You aas long as I live°;
  I will blift° up my hands° in Your name°.
  5 My soul° is asatisfied° as with Imarrow° and fatness°,
  And my mouth° offers° bpraises° with joyful° lips°.

David's thirst for God.

1 ¶ [[A Psalmº of David,º when he was² in the wildernessº of Judah.]]º O God,º thou² [art] my God;º early will I seekºª thee: my soulº thirstethºª for thee, my fleshº longethºª for thee in a dryº and thirstyº land,º where noº waterº is; 2 To seeºª thy powerº and thy glory,º so² [as] I have seenºª thee in the sanctuary.º 3 Because² thy lovingkindnessº [is] betterº than life,º² my lipsº shall praiseºª thee.

4 Thus² will I blessºª thee while I live:º I will lift upºª my handsº in thy name.º 5 My soulº shall be satisfiedºª as² [with] marrowº and fatness;º and my mouthº shall praiseºª [thee] with joyfulº lips:º 6 When² I rememberºª thee upon² my bed,º [and] meditateºª on thee in the [night] watches.º 7 Because² thou hast been² my help,º therefore in the shadowº of thy wingsº will I rejoice.ºª 8 My soulº followeth hardºª afterº thee: thy right handº upholdethºª me.
