Prayer for Protection from the Wicked.

For the choir director; for flute accompaniment. A Psalm of David.

  1 aGive° ear° to my words°, O LORD°,
  Consider° my Ibgroaning°.
  2 Heed° athe sound° of my cry° for help°, bmy King° and my God°,
  For to You I pray°.
  3 In the morning°, O LORD°, IYou will hear° my voice°;
  In the amorning° I will order° [my] II[prayer] to You and [eagerly] bwatch°.

  6 You adestroy° those who speak° falsehood°;
  The LORD° abhors° bthe man° of bloodshed° and deceit°.
  7 But as for me, aby Your abundant° lovingkindness° I will enter° Your house°,
  IAt Your holy° temple° I will bbow° in creverence° for You.

  For they are crebellious° against You.

1 ¶ [[To the chief Musicianºª upon² Nehiloth,º A Psalmº of David.]]º Give earºª to my words,º O LORD,º considerºª my meditation.º 2 Hearkenºª unto the voiceº of my cry,º my King,º and my God:º for² unto² thee will I pray.ºª 3 My voiceº shalt thou hearºª in the morning,º O LORD;º in the morningº will I directºª [my prayer] unto thee, and will look up.ºª

God favoureth not the wicked.

4 For² thou² [art] not² a Godº that hath pleasureº in wickedness:º neither² shall evilº dwellºª with thee. 5 The foolishºª shall not² standºª in² thy sight:º thou hatestºª all² workersºª of iniquity.º 6 Thou shalt destroyºª them that speakºª leasing:º the LORDº will abhorºª the bloodyº and deceitfulº man.º

David, professing his faith, prayeth unto God to guide him,

7 But as for me,² I will comeºª [into] thy houseº in the multitudeº of thy mercy:º [and] in thy fearº will I worshipºª toward² thy holyº temple.º 8 Leadºª me, O LORD,º in thy righteousnessº because of² mine enemies;ºª make thy wayº straightºª before my face.º 9 For² [there is] no² faithfulnessºª in their mouth;º their inward¹ part² [is] very wickedness;º their throatº [is] an openºª sepulchre;º they flatterºª with their tongue.º
