Blessedness of Forgiveness and of Trust in God.

[A Psalm] of David. A Maskil.

  1 aHow blessed° is he whose transgression° is forgiven°,
  Whose sin° is covered°!
  2 How blessed° is the man° to whom the LORD° adoes not impute° iniquity°,
  And in whose spirit° there° is bno° deceit°!

  3 ¶ When° aI kept° silent° [about my sin], bmy Ibody° wasted° away°

  My Ibvitality° was drained° away [as] with the fever° heat° of summer°.
      IISelah°.
  5 I aacknowledged° my sin° to You,
  And my iniquity° I bdid not hide°;
  I said°, “cI will confess° my transgressions° to the LORD°”;
  And You dforgave° the Iguilt° of my sin°.
      Selah°.
  6 Therefore°°, let everyone° who is godly° pray° to You Iain a time° when You may be found°;
  Surely° bin a flood° of great° waters° they will not reach° him.
  7 You are amy hiding° place°; You bpreserve° me from trouble°;

  Whose trappings° include bit° and bridle° to hold° them in check°,
  [Otherwise] they will not come° near° to you.
  10 Many° are the asorrows° of the wicked°,
  But bhe who trusts° in the LORD°, lovingkindness° shall surround° him.
  11 Be aglad° in the LORD° and rejoice°, you righteous° ones°;
  And shout° for joy°, all° you who are bupright° in heart°.

Confession of sins giveth ease to the conscience.

3 When² I kept silence,ºª my bonesº waxed oldºª through my roaringº all² the dayº long. 4 For² dayº and nightº thy handº was heavyºª upon² me: my moistureº is turnedºª into the droughtº of summer.º Selah.º 5 I acknowledgedºª my sinº unto thee, and mine iniquityº have I not² hid.ºª I said,ºª I will confessºª my transgressionsº² unto the LORD;º and thou² forgavestºª the iniquityº of my sin.º Selah.º 6 For² this² shall every² one that is godlyº prayºª unto² thee in a timeº when thou mayest be found:ºª surely² in the floodsº of greatº watersº they shall not² come nighºª unto² him. 7 Thou² [art] my hiding place;º thou shalt preserveºª me from trouble;º² thou shalt compass¹ª me about² with songsº of deliverance.º Selah.º
