Wickedness of Men and Lovingkindness of God.

For the choir director. [A Psalm] of David the servant of the LORD.

  1 Transgression° speaks° to the ungodly° within° Ihis heart°;
  There° is ano° fear° of God° before° his eyes°.
  2 For Iit aflatters° him in his [own] eyes°
  Concerning the discovery° of his iniquity° [and] the hatred° [of it].
  3 The awords° of his mouth° are wickedness° and deceit°;
  He has bceased° to Ibe wise° [and] to do° good°.
  4 He aplans° wickedness° upon his bed°;
  He sets° himself on a bpath° that is not good°;
  He cdoes not despise° evil°.

The excellency of God's mercy.

5 Thy mercy,º O LORD,º [is] in the heavens;º [and] thy faithfulnessº [reacheth] unto² the clouds.º 6 Thy righteousnessº [is] like the greatº mountains;º thy judgmentsº [are] a greatº deep:º O LORD,º thou preservestºª manº and beast.º 7 How² excellentº [is] thy lovingkindness,º O God!º therefore the childrenº of menº put their trustºª under the shadowº of thy wings.º 8 They shall be abundantly satisfiedºª with the fatnessº² of thy house;º and thou shalt make them drinkºª of the riverº of thy pleasures.º 9 For² with² thee [is] the fountainº of life:º in thy lightº shall we seeºª light.º
