NASB — Psalms 139 — KJV

God’s Omnipresence and Omniscience.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

  1 O LORD°, You have asearched° me and known° [me].
  2 You aknow° Iwhen I sit° down° and IIwhen I rise° up;
  You bunderstand° my thought° from afar°.
  3 You Iascrutinize° my IIpath° and my lying° down°,
  And are intimately° acquainted° with all° my ways°.
  4 IEven before there° is a word° on my tongue°,
  Behold°, O LORD°, You aknow° it all°.
  5 You have aenclosed° me behind° and before°,
  And blaid° Your hand° upon me.
  6 [Such] aknowledge° is btoo° wonderful° for me;
  It is [too] high°, I cannot°° attain to it.

David praiseth God for his allseeing providence,

1 ¶ [[To the chief Musician,ºª A Psalmº of David.]]º O LORD,º thou hast searchedºª me, and knownºª [me]. 2 Thou² knowestºª my downsittingºª and mine uprising,ºª thou understandestºª my thoughtº afar off.º² 3 Thou compassestºª my pathº and my lying down,º and art acquaintedºª [with] all² my ways.º 4 For² [there is] not² a wordº in my tongue,º [but], lo,² O LORD,º thou knowestºª it altogether.² 5 Thou hast besetºª me behindº and before,º and laidºª thine handº upon² me. 6 [Such] knowledgeº [is] too wonderfulºª for² me; it is high,ºª I cannotºª² [attain] unto it. 7 Whither² shall I go¹ª² from thy spirit?º² or whither² shall I fleeºª from thy presence?º² 8 If² I ascend upºª into heaven,º thou² [art] there:² if I make my bedºª in hell,º behold,² thou [art there]. 9 [If] I takeºª the wingsº of the morning,º [and] dwellºª in the uttermost partsº of the sea;º 10 Even² there² shall thy handº leadºª me, and thy right handº shall holdºª me. 11 If I say,ºª Surely² the darknessº shall coverºª me; even the nightº shall be lightº about² me.¹ 12 Yea,² the darknessº hidethºª not² from² thee; but the nightº shinethºª as the day:º the darknessº and the lightº [are] both alike [to thee]. 13 For² thou² hast possessedºª my reins:º thou hast coveredºª me in my mother'sº womb.º 14 I will praiseºª thee; for²² I am fearfullyºª [and] wonderfully² made:¹ª marvellousºª [are] thy works;º and [that] my soulº knowethºª right well.º 15 My substanceº was not² hidºª from² thee, when² I was madeºª in secret,º [and] curiously wroughtºª in the lowest partsº of the earth.º 16 Thine eyesº did seeºª my substance, yet being unperfect;º and in² thy bookº all² [my members] were written,ºª [which] in continuanceº were fashioned,ºª when [as yet there was] noneº² of them.
