NASB — Hosea 5 — KJV

The People’s Apostasy Rebuked

  1 Hear° this°, O priests°!
  Give° heed°, O house° of Israel°!
  Listen°, O house° of the king°!
  For the judgment° applies to you,
  For you have been° a asnare° at Mizpah°
  And a net° spread° out on Tabor°.
  2 The arevolters° have Ibgone° deep° in depravity°,
  But I will chastise° all° of them.
  3 I aknow° Ephraim°, and Israel° is not hidden° from Me;
  For now°, O Ephraim°, you have played° the harlot°,
  Israel° has defiled° itself.
  4 Their deeds° will not allow° them
  To return° to their God°.
  For a aspirit° of harlotry° is within° them,
  And they bdo not know° the LORD°.
  5 Moreover, the apride° of Israel° testifies° against° him,
  And Israel° and Ephraim° stumble° in their iniquity°;
  bJudah° also° has stumbled° with them.
  6 They will ago° with their flocks° and herds°
  To seek° the LORD°, but they will bnot find° [Him];
  He has cwithdrawn° from them.
  7 They have adealt° treacherously° against the LORD°,
  For they have borne° Ibillegitimate° children°.
  Now° the cnew° moon° will devour° them with their IIland°.

God's judgments against the priests, the people, and the princes of Israel, for their manifold sins,

1 ¶ Hearºª ye this,² O priests;º and hearken,ºª ye houseº of Israel;º and give ye ear,ºª O houseº of the king;º for² judgmentº [is] toward you, because² ye have been² a snareº on Mizpah,º and a netº spreadºª upon² Tabor.º 2 And the revoltersº are profoundºª to make slaughter,ºª though I² [have been] a rebukerº of them all.² 3 I² knowºª Ephraim,º and Israelº is not² hidºª from² me: for² now,² O Ephraim,º thou committest whoredom,ºª [and] Israelº is defiled.ºª 4 They will not² frameºª their doingsº to turnºª unto² their God:º for² the spiritº of whoredomsº [is] in the midstº of them, and they have not² knownºª the LORD.º 5 And the prideº of Israelº doth testifyºª to his face:º therefore shall Israelº and Ephraimº fallºª in their iniquity;º Judahº also² shall fallºª with² them. 6 They shall go¹ª² with their flocksº and with their herdsº to seekºª² the LORD;º but they shall not² findºª [him]; he hath withdrawnºª himself from² them. 7 They have dealt treacherouslyºª against the LORD:º for² they have begottenºª strangeºª children:º now² shall a monthº devourºª them with² their portions.º 8 Blowºª ye the cornetº in Gibeah,º [and] the trumpetº in Ramah:º cry aloudºª [at] Bethaven,º afterº thee, O Benjamin.º 9 Ephraimº shall be² desolateº in the dayº of rebuke:º among the tribesº of Israelº have I made knownºª that which shall surely be.ºª 10 The princesº of Judahº were² like them that removeºª the bound:º [therefore] I will pour outºª my wrathº upon² them like water.º 11 Ephraimº [is] oppressedºª [and] brokenºª in judgment,º because² he willinglyºª walkedºª afterº the commandment.º 12 Therefore [will] I² [be] unto Ephraimº as a moth,º and to the houseº of Judahº as rottenness.º 13 When Ephraimº sawºª² his sickness,º and Judahº [saw]² his wound,º then went¹ª² Ephraimº to² the Assyrian,º and sentºª to² kingº Jareb:ºª¹ª yet couldºª he² not² healºª you, nor² cureºª² you of your wound.º 14 For² I² [will be] unto Ephraimº as a lion,º and as a young lionº to the houseº of Judah:º I,² [even] I,² will tearºª and go away;¹ª² I will take away,ºª and none² shall rescueºª [him].
