Birth of the King in Bethlehem

  1INow° muster° yourselves in troops°, daughter° of troops°;
  IIThey have laid° siege° against° us;
  With a rod° they will asmite° the judge° of Israel° on the cheek°.
  2IBut as for ayou, Bethlehem° Ephrathah°,
  [Too] little° to be among the clans° of Judah°,
  From byou One will go° forth° for Me to be cruler° in Israel°.
  IIHis goings° forth° are dfrom long° ago°,
  From the days° of eternity°.”
  3 Therefore° He will agive° them [up] until° the time°
  When she bwho is in labor° has borne° a child.
  Then the cremainder° of His brethren°
  Will return° to the sons° of Israel°.
  4 And He will arise° and ashepherd° [His flock]
  In the strength° of the LORD°,
  In the majesty° of the name° of the LORD° His God°.
  And they will Iremain°,
  Because° IIat that time° He will be great°
  To the bends° of the earth°.
  5 This° One° awill be [our] peace°.
  When° the bAssyrian° invades° our land°,
  When° he tramples° on our Icitadels°,
  Then we will raise° against° him
  Seven° shepherds° and eight° leaders° of men°.
  6 They will ashepherd° the land° of Assyria° with the sword°,
  The land° of bNimrod° at its entrances°;
  And He will cdeliver° [us] from the Assyrian°
  When° he attacks° our land°
  And when° he tramples° our territory°.

  Will be among the nations°,
  Among° many° peoples°

  12 “I will cut° off° asorceries° from your hand°,
  And you will have° fortune-tellers° no° more.
  13aI will cut° off° your carved° images°

  So that you will no° longer° bow° down°
  To the work° of your hands°.

His Kingdom.

4 ¶ And he shall standºª and feedºª in the strengthº of the LORD,º in the majestyº of the nameº of the LORDº his God;º and they shall abide:ºª for² now² shall he be greatºª unto² the endsº of the earth.º 5 And this² [man] shall be² the peace,º when² the Assyrianº shall comeºª into our land:º and when² he shall treadºª in our palaces,º then shall we raiseºª against² him sevenº shepherds,ºª and eightº principalº men.º 6 And they shall waste¹ª²² the landº of Assyriaº with the sword,º and the landº of Nimrodº in the entrancesº thereof: thus shall he deliverºª [us] from² the Assyrian,º when² he comethºª into our land,º and when² he treadethºª within our borders.º 7 And the remnantº of Jacobº shall be² in the midstº of manyº peopleº as a dewº from²² the LORD,º as the showersº upon² the grass,º that² tarriethºª not² for man,º nor² waitethºª for the sonsº of men.º

His conquest.

8 ¶ And the remnantº of Jacobº shall be² among the Gentilesº in the midstº of manyº peopleº as a lionº among the beastsº of the forest,º as a young lionº among the flocksº of sheep:º who,² if² he go through,ºª both treadeth down,ºª and teareth in pieces,ºª and none² can deliver.ºª 9 Thine handº shall be lifted upºª upon² thine adversaries,º and all² thine enemiesºª shall be cut off.ºª 10 And it shall come to pass² in that² day,º saithºª the LORD,º that I will cut offºª thy horsesº out of the midstº² of thee, and I will destroyºª thy chariots:º 11 And I will cut offºª the citiesº¹ª of thy land,º and throw downºª all² thy strong holds:º 12 And I will cut offºª witchcraftsº out of thine hand;º² and thou shalt have² no² [more] soothsayers:ºª 13 Thy graven imagesº also will I cut off,ºª and thy standing imagesº out of the midstº² of thee; and thou shalt no² more² worshipºª the workº of thine hands.º 14 And I will pluck upºª thy grovesº out of the midstº² of thee: so will I destroyºª thy cities.º¹ª 15 And I will executeºª vengeanceº in angerº and furyº upon² the heathen,º such as² they have not² heard.ºª
