1 Now when all° this° was finished°, all° Israel° who were present° went° out to the cities° of Judah°, abroke° the pillars° in pieces°, cut° down° the IAsherim° and pulled° down° the high° places° and the altars° throughout° all° Judah° and Benjamin°, as well as in Ephraim° and Manasseh°, IIuntil° they had destroyed° them all°. Then all° the sons° of Israel° returned° to their cities°, each° to his possession°.

2 ¶ And Hezekiah° appointed° athe divisions° of the priests° and the Levites° by their divisions°, each° according° to his service°, [both] the priests° and the Levites°, bfor burnt° offerings° and for peace° offerings°, to minister° and to give° thanks° and to praise° in the gates° of the camp° of the LORD°.

11 ¶ Then Hezekiah° commanded° [them] to prepare° arooms° in the house° of the LORD°, and they prepared° [them]. 12 They faithfully° brought° in the contributions° and the tithes° and the consecrated° things°; and Conaniah° the Levite° [was] the officer° in charge° aof them and his brother° Shimei° [was] second°. 13 Jehiel°, Azaziah°, Nahath°, Asahel°, Jerimoth°, Jozabad°, Eliel°, Ismachiah°, Mahath° and Benaiah° [were] overseers° Iunder° the authority° of Conaniah° and Shimei° his brother° by the appointment° of King° Hezekiah°, and aAzariah° [was] the [chief] officer° of the house° of God°. 14 Kore° the son° of Imnah° the Levite°, the keeper° of the eastern° [gate, was] over° the freewill° offerings° of God°, to apportion° the contributions° for the LORD° and the most° holy° things°. 15 IUnder° his authority° [were] aEden°, Miniamin°, Jeshua°, Shemaiah°, Amariah° and Shecaniah° in bthe cities° of the priests°, to distribute° faithfully° [their portions] to their brothers° by divisions°, whether great° or small°, 16 without°° regard to their genealogical° enrollment°, to the males° from Iathirty° years° old° and upward°—everyone° who entered° the house° of the LORD° bfor his daily° obligations°—for their work° in their duties° according to their divisions°; 17 as well as the priests° who were enrolled° genealogically° according to their fathers’° households°, and the Levites° afrom twenty° years° old° and upwards°, by their duties° [and] their divisions°. 18 The genealogical° enrollment° [included] Iall° their little° children°, their wives°, their sons° and their daughters°, for the whole° assembly°, for they consecrated° themselves IIfaithfully° in holiness°. 19 Also for the sons° of Aaron° the priests° [who were] in athe pasture° lands° of their cities°, or in each° and every° city°, b[there were] men° who° were designated° by name° to distribute° portions° to every° male° among the priests° and to everyone° genealogically° enrolled° among the Levites°.

Hezekiah ordereth the courses of the priests and Levites, and provideth for their work and maintenance.

2 ¶ And Hezekiahº appointedºª² the coursesº of the priestsº and the Levitesº after² their courses,º every manº according¹ to² his service,º the priestsº and Levitesº for burnt offeringsº and for peace offerings,º to minister,ºª and to give thanks,ºª and to praiseºª in the gatesº of the tentsº of the LORD.º 3 [He appointed] also the king'sº portionº of² his substanceº for the burnt offerings,º [to wit], for the morningº and eveningº burnt offerings,º and the burnt offeringsº for the sabbaths,º and for the new moons,º and for the set feasts,º as [it is] writtenºª in the lawº of the LORD.º 4 Moreover he commandedºª the peopleº that dweltºª in Jerusalemº to giveºª the portionº of the priestsº and the Levites,º that² they might be encouragedºª in the lawº of the LORD.º

The people's forwardness in offerings and tithes.

5 ¶ And as soon as the commandmentº came abroad,ºª the childrenº of Israelº brought¹ª in abundanceºª the firstfruitsº of corn,º wine,º and oil,º and honey,º and of all² the increaseº of the field;º and the titheº of all² [things] brought¹ª they in² abundantly.º 6 And [concerning] the childrenº of Israelº and Judah,º that dweltºª in the citiesº of Judah,º they² also² brought inºª the titheº of oxenº and sheep,º and the titheº of holy thingsº which were consecratedºª unto the LORDº their God,º and laidºª [them] by heaps.º 7 In the thirdº monthº they beganºª to lay the foundationºª of the heaps,º and finishedºª [them] in the seventhº month.º 8 And when Hezekiahº and the princesº cameºª and sawºª² the heaps,º they blessedºª² the LORD,º and his peopleº Israel.º 9 Then Hezekiahº questionedºª with² the priestsº and the Levitesº concerning² the heaps.º 10 And Azariahº the chiefº priestº of the houseº of Zadokº answeredºª² him, and said,ºª Since [the people] beganºª² to bringºª the offeringsº into the houseº of the LORD,º we have had enoughºª to eat,ºª and have leftºª² plenty:º for² the LORDº hath blessedºª² his people;º and that which is leftºª [is]² this² great store.º

Hezekiah appointeth officers to dispose of the tithes.

11 ¶ Then Hezekiahº commandedºª to prepareºª chambersº in the houseº of the LORD;º and they preparedºª [them], 12 And brought inºª² the offeringsº and the tithesº and the dedicatedº [things] faithfully:º over² which Cononiahº the Levite¹² [was] ruler,º and Shimeiº his brotherº [was] the next.º 13 And Jehiel,º and Azaziah,º and Nahath,º and Asahel,º and Jerimoth,º and Jozabad,º and Eliel,º and Ismachiah,º and Mahath,º and Benaiah,º [were] overseersº under the handº² of Cononiahº and Shimeiº his brother,º at the commandmentº of Hezekiahº the king,º and Azariahº the rulerº of the houseº of God.º 14 And Koreº the sonº of Imnahº the Levite,¹² the porterº toward the east,º [was] over² the freewill offeringsº of God,º to distributeºª the oblationsº of the LORD,º and the most¹ holy things.º 15 And next²² him [were] Eden,º and Miniamin,º and Jeshua,º and Shemaiah,º Amariah,º and Shecaniah,º in the citiesº of the priests,º in [their] set office,º to giveºª to their brethrenº by¹ courses,º as well to the greatº as to the small:º 16 Beside²² their genealogyºª of males,º from threeº yearsº oldº² and upward,º [even] unto every one² that enterethºª into the houseº of the LORD,º his dailyº portionº for their serviceº in their chargesº according to their courses;º 17 Both to² the genealogyºª of the priestsº by the houseº of their fathers,º and the Levitesº from twentyº yearsº oldº² and upward,º in their chargesº by their courses;º 18 And to the genealogyºª of all² their little ones,º their wives,º and their sons,º and their daughters,º through all² the congregation:º for² in their set officeº they sanctified¹ª themselves² in holiness:º 19 Also of the sonsº of Aaronº the priests,º [which were] in the fieldsº of the suburbsº of their cities,º in every² several city,º the men¹² that² were expressedºª by name,º to giveºª portionsº to all² the malesº among the priests,º and to all² that were reckoned by genealogiesºª among the Levites.º
