The cities of the priests and Levites.54 ¶ Now these² [are] their dwelling placesº throughout their castlesº in their coasts,º of the sonsº of Aaron,º of the familiesº of the Kohathites:º for² theirs was² the lot.º 55 And they gaveºª them² Hebronº in the landº of Judah,º and the suburbsº thereof round aboutº it. 56 But the fieldsº of the city,º and the villagesº thereof, they gaveºª to Calebº the sonº of Jephunneh.º 57 And to the sonsº of Aaronº they gaveºª² the citiesº of Judah,² [namely],² Hebron,º [the city] of refuge,º and Libnahº with her suburbs,º and Jattir,º and Eshtemoa,º with their suburbs,º 58 And Hilenº with her suburbs,º² Debirº with her suburbs,º 59 And Ashanº with her suburbs,º and Bethshemeshº with her suburbs:º 60 And out of the tribeº² of Benjamin;º² Gebaº with her suburbs,º and Alemethº with her suburbs,º and Anathothº with her suburbs.º All² their citiesº throughout their familiesº [were] thirteenºº cities.º 61 And unto the sonsº of Kohath,º [which were] leftºª of the familyº² of that tribe,º [were cities given] out of the halfº² tribe,º [namely, out of] the halfº [tribe] of Manasseh,º by lot,º tenº cities.º 62 And to the sonsº of Gershom¹² throughout their familiesº out of the tribeº² of Issachar,º and out of the tribeº² of Asher,º and out of the tribeº² of Naphtali,º and out of the tribeº² of Manassehº in Bashan,º thirteenºº cities.º 63 Unto the sonsº of Merariº [were given] by lot,º throughout their families,º out of the tribeº² of Reuben,º and out of the tribeº² of Gad,º and out of the tribeº² of Zebulun,º twelveºº cities.º 64 And the childrenº of Israelº gaveºª to the Levitesº [these]² citiesº with their suburbs.º 65 And they gaveºª by lotº out of the tribeº² of the childrenº of Judah,º and out of the tribeº² of the childrenº of Simeon,º and out of the tribeº² of the childrenº of Benjamin,º² these² cities,º which² are calledºª by [their] names.º 66 And [the residue] of the familiesº² of the sonsº of Kohathº had² citiesº of their coastsº out of the tribeº² of Ephraim.º 67 And they gaveºª unto them, [of]² the citiesº of refuge,º² Shechemº in mountº Ephraimº with her suburbs;º [they gave] also Gezerº with her suburbs,º 68 And Jokmeamº with her suburbs,º and Bethhoronº with her suburbs,º 69 And Aijalonº with her suburbs,º and Gathrimmonº with her suburbs:º 70 And out of² the halfº tribeº of Manasseh;º² Anerº with her suburbs,º and Bileamº with her suburbs,º for the familyº of the remnantºª of the sonsº of Kohath.º 71 Unto the sonsº of Gershom¹² [were given] out of the familyº² of the halfº tribeº of Manasseh,º² Golanº in Bashanº with her suburbs,º and Ashtarothº with her suburbs:º 72 And out of the tribeº² of Issachar;º² Kedeshº with her suburbs,º² Daberathº with her suburbs,º 73 And Ramothº with her suburbs,º and Anemº with her suburbs:º 74 And out of the tribeº² of Asher;º² Mashalº with her suburbs,º and Abdonº with her suburbs,º 75 And Hukokº with her suburbs,º and Rehobº with her suburbs:º 76 And out of the tribeº² of Naphtali;º² Kedeshº in Galileeº with her suburbs,º and Hammonº with her suburbs,º and Kirjathaimº with her suburbs.º 77 Unto the restºª of the childrenº of Merariº [were given] out of the tribeº² of Zebulun,º² Rimmonº with her suburbs,º² Taborº with her suburbs:º 78 And on the other sideº² Jordanº by Jericho,º on the east sideº of Jordan,º [were given them] out of the tribeº² of Reuben,º² Bezerº in the wildernessº with her suburbs,º and Jahzahº with her suburbs,º 79 Kedemothº also with her suburbs,º and Mephaathº with her suburbs:º 80 And out of the tribeº² of Gad;º² Ramothº in Gileadº with her suburbs,º and Mahanaimº with her suburbs,º 81 And Heshbonº with her suburbs,º and Jazerº with her suburbs.º [54] Gn 25:16; Nu 31:10; 35:1; Jsh 21:3, 4; Ps 69:25; Pv 18:10; Ep 3:8.
