Caleb’s Request1 Now these° are [the territories] which° the sons° of Israel° inherited° in the land° of Canaan°, which° aEleazar° the priest°, and Joshua° the son° of Nun°, and the heads° of the Ihouseholds° of the tribes° of the sons° of Israel° apportioned° to them for an inheritance°, 2 by the alot° of their inheritance°, as the LORD° commanded° Ithrough° Moses°, for the nine° tribes° and the half-tribe°°. 3 For aMoses° had given° the inheritance° of the two° tribes° and the half-tribe°° beyond°° the Jordan°; but bhe did not give° an inheritance° to the Levites° among° them. 4 For the sons° of Joseph° were two° tribes°, aManasseh° and Ephraim°, and they did not give° a portion° to the Levites° in the land°, except°° cities° to live° in, with their pasture° lands° for their livestock° and for their property°. 5 Thus° the sons° of Israel° did° just° aas the LORD° had commanded° Moses°, and they divided° the land°. The nine tribes and half are to have their inheritance by lot.1 ¶ And these² [are the countries] which² the childrenº of Israelº inheritedºª in the landº of Canaan,º which² Eleazarº the priest,º and Joshuaº the sonº of Nun,º and the headsº of the fathersº of the tribesº of the childrenº of Israel,º distributed for inheritanceºª to them. 2 By lotº [was] their inheritance,º as² the LORDº commandedºª by the handº of Moses,º for the nineº tribes,º and [for] the halfº tribe.º 3 For² Mosesº had givenºª the inheritanceº of twoº tribesº and an halfº tribeº on the other sideº² Jordan:º but unto the Levitesº he gaveºª none² inheritanceº amongº them. 4 For² the childrenº of Josephº were² twoº tribes,º Manassehº and Ephraim:º therefore they gaveºª no² partº unto the Levitesº in the land,º save²² citiesº to dwellºª [in], with their suburbsº for their cattleº and for their substance.º 5 As² the LORDº commandedºª² Moses,º so² the childrenº of Israelº did,ºª and they dividedºª² the land.º [1] Nu 34:17.
