Obligations of the Document28 ¶ Now athe rest° of the people°, the priests°, the Levites°, the gatekeepers°, the singers°, the temple° servants° and ball° those who had separated° themselves from the peoples° of the lands° to the law° of God°, their wives°, their sons° and their daughters°, all° those who had° knowledge° and understanding°, 29 are joining° with their Ikinsmen°, their nobles°, and are IIataking° on themselves a curse° and an oath° to walk° in God’s° law°, which° was given° through° Moses°, God’s° servant°, and to keep° and to observe° all° the commandments° of IIIGOD° our Lord°, and His ordinances° and His statutes°; 30 and athat we will not give° our daughters° to the peoples° of the land° or take° their daughters° for our sons°. 31 As afor the peoples° of the land° who bring° wares° or any° grain° on the sabbath° day° to sell°, we will not buy° from them on the sabbath° or a holy° day°; and we will forego° [the crops] the bseventh° year° and the cexaction° of every° debt°. The points of the Covenant.28 ¶ And the restº of the people,º the priests,º the Levites,º the porters,º the singers,ºª the Nethinims,º and all² they that had separated¹ª themselves² from the peopleº² of the landsº unto² the lawº of God,º their wives,º their sons,º and their daughters,º every² one having knowledge,ºª and having understanding;ºª 29 They claveºª to² their brethren,º their nobles,º and enteredºª into a curse,º and into an oath,º to walk¹ª² in God'sº law,º which² was givenºª byº Mosesº the servantº of God,º and to observeºª and doºª² all² the commandmentsº of the LORDº our Lord,º and his judgmentsº and his statutes;º 30 And that² we would not² giveºª our daughtersº unto the peopleº of the land,º nor² takeºª their daughtersº for our sons:º 31 And [if] the peopleº of the landº bringºª² wareº or any² victualsº on the sabbathº dayº to sell,ºª [that] we would not² buyºª it of² them on the sabbath,º or on the holyº day:º and [that] we would leaveºª² the seventhº year,º and the exaction¹² of every² debt.º 32 Also we madeºª ordinancesº for² us, to chargeºª ourselves² yearlyº with the third partº of a shekelº for the serviceº of the houseº of our God;º 33 For the shewbread,ºº and for the continualº meat offering,º and for the continualº burnt offering,º of the sabbaths,º of the new moons,º for the set feasts,º and for the holyº [things], and for the sin offeringsº to make an atonementºª for² Israel,º and [for] all² the workº of the houseº of our God.º 34 And we cast¹ª the lots¹ among²² the priests,º the Levites,º and the people,º for² the woodº offering,º to bringºª [it] into the houseº of our God,º after the housesº of our fathers,º at timesº appointedºª yearº by year,º to burnºª upon² the altarº of the LORDº our God,º as [it is] writtenºª in the law:º 35 And to bringºª² the firstfruitsº of our ground,º and the firstfruitsº of all² fruitº of all² trees,º yearº by year,º unto the houseº of the LORD:º 36 Also the firstbornº of our sons,º and of our cattle,º as [it is] writtenºª in the law,º and the firstlingsº of our herdsº and of our flocks,º to bringºª to the houseº of our God,º unto the priestsº that ministerºª in the houseº of our God:º 37 And [that] we should bringºª the firstfruitsº of our dough,º and our offerings,º and the fruitº of all² manner of trees,º of wineº and of oil,º unto the priests,º to² the chambersº of the houseº of our God;º and the tithesº of our groundº unto the Levites,º that the same² Levitesº might have the tithesºª in all² the citiesº of our tillage.º 38 And the priestº the sonº of Aaronº shall be² with² the Levites,º when the Levitesº take tithes:ºª and the Levitesº shall bring upºª² the titheº of the tithesº unto the houseº of our God,º to² the chambers,º into the treasureº house.º 39 For² the childrenº of Israelº and the childrenº of Leviº shall bringºª² the offeringº of the corn,º of the new wine,º and the oil,º unto² the chambers,º where² [are] the vesselsº of the sanctuary,º and the priestsº that minister,ºª and the porters,º and the singers:ºª and we will not² forsakeºª² the houseº of our God.º [28] Lv 20:24; Ezr 2:36, 70; 9:1; 10:11; Ne 7:72; 8:2; 9:2; 13:3; Ps 47:7; Ec 5:2; Jr 4:2; Ro 1:1; 2Co 6:14.
