The names and order of them that builded the wall.

1 ¶ Then Eliashibº the highº priestº rose upºª with his brethrenº the priests,º and they buildedºª² the sheepº gate;º they² sanctifiedºª it, and set upºª the doorsº of it; even unto² the towerº of Meahº they sanctifiedºª it, unto² the towerº of Hananeel.º 2 And next² unto² him¹ buildedºª the men¹² of Jericho.º And next² to² them buildedºª Zaccurº the sonº of Imri.º 3 But the fishº gateº did the sonsº of Hassenaahº build,ºª who² [also] laid the beamsºª thereof, and set upºª the doorsº thereof, the locksº thereof, and the barsº thereof. 4 And next² unto² them¹ repairedºª Meremothº the sonº of Urijah,º the sonº of Koz.º And next² unto² them¹ repairedºª Meshullamº the sonº of Berechiah,º the sonº of Meshezabeel.º And next² unto² them¹ repairedºª Zadokº the sonº of Baana.¹² 5 And next² unto² them¹ the Tekoitesº repaired;ºª but their noblesº putºª not² their necksº to the workº of their Lord.º 6 Moreover the oldº gateº repairedºª Jehoiadaº the sonº of Paseah,º and Meshullamº the sonº of Besodeiah;º they² laid the beamsºª thereof, and set upºª the doorsº thereof, and the locksº thereof, and the barsº thereof. 7 And next² unto² them¹ repairedºª Melatiahº the Gibeonite,º and Jadonº the Meronothite,º the men¹² of Gibeon,º and of Mizpah,º unto the throneº of the governorº on this sideº the river.º 8 Next² unto² him¹ repairedºª Uzzielº the sonº of Harhaiah,º of the goldsmiths.ºª Next² unto² him¹ also repairedºª Hananiahº the sonº of [one of] the apothecaries,º and they fortifiedºª Jerusalemº unto² the broadº wall.º 9 And next² unto² them¹ repairedºª Rephaiahº the sonº of Hur,º the rulerº of the halfº partº of Jerusalem.º 10 And next² unto² them¹ repairedºª Jedaiahº the sonº of Harumaph,º even over against² his house.º And next² unto² him¹ repairedºª Hattushº the sonº of Hashabniah.º 11 Malchijahº the sonº of Harim,º and Hashubº the sonº of Pahathmoab,º repairedºª the otherº piece,º and the towerº of the furnaces.º 12 And next² unto² him¹ repairedºª Shallumº the sonº of Halohesh,º the rulerº of the halfº partº of Jerusalem,º he² and his daughters.º 13 ² The valleyº gateº repairedºª Hanun,º and the inhabitantsºª of Zanoah;º they² builtºª it, and set upºª the doorsº thereof, the locksº thereof, and the barsº thereof, and a thousandº cubitsº on the wallº unto² the dungº gate.º 14 But the dungº gateº repairedºª Malchiahº the sonº of Rechab,º the rulerº of partº of Bethhaccerem;º he² builtºª it, and set upºª the doorsº thereof, the locksº thereof, and the barsº thereof. 15 But the gateº of the fountainº repairedºª Shallunº the sonº of Colhozeh,º the rulerº of partº of Mizpah;º he² builtºª it, and coveredºª it, and set upºª the doorsº thereof, the locksº thereof, and the barsº thereof, and the wallº of the poolº of Siloahº by the king'sº garden,º and unto² the stairsº that go downºª from the cityº² of David.º 16 Afterº him repairedºª Nehemiahº the sonº of Azbuk,º the rulerº of the halfº partº of Bethzur,º unto² [the place] over against² the sepulchresº of David,º and to² the poolº that was made,ºª and unto² the houseº of the mighty.º 17 Afterº him repairedºª the Levites,º Rehumº the sonº of Bani.º Next² unto² him¹ repairedºª Hashabiah,º the rulerº of the halfº partº of Keilah,º in his part.º 18 Afterº him repairedºª their brethren,º Bavaiº the sonº of Henadad,º the rulerº of the halfº partº of Keilah.º 19 And next² to² him¹ repairedºª Ezerº the sonº of Jeshua,º the rulerº of Mizpah,º anotherº pieceº over against²² the going upºª to the armouryº at the turningº [of the wall]. 20 Afterº him Baruchº the sonº of Zabbaiº earnestlyºª repairedºª the otherº piece,º from² the turningº [of the wall] unto² the doorº of the houseº of Eliashibº the highº priest.º 21 Afterº him repairedºª Meremothº the sonº of Urijahº the sonº of Kozº anotherº piece,º from the doorº² of the houseº of Eliashibº even to² the endº of the houseº of Eliashib.º 22 And afterº him repairedºª the priests,º the men¹² of the plain.º 23 Afterº him repairedºª Benjaminº and Hashubº over against² their house.º Afterº him repairedºª Azariahº the sonº of Maaseiahº the sonº of Ananiahº byº his house.º 24 Afterº him repairedºª Binnuiº the sonº of Henadadº anotherº piece,º from the houseº² of Azariahº unto² the turningº [of the wall], even unto² the corner.º 25 Palalº the sonº of Uzai,º over against²² the turningº [of the wall], and the towerº which lieth outºª from the king'sº highº house,º² that² [was] by the courtº of the prison.º Afterº him Pedaiahº the sonº of Parosh.º 26 Moreover the Nethinimsº dweltºª² in Ophel,º unto² [the place] over against² the waterº gateº toward the east,º and the towerº that lieth out.ºª 27 Afterº them the Tekoitesº repairedºª anotherº piece,º over against²² the greatº towerº that lieth out,ºª even unto² the wallº of Ophel.º 28 From above²² the horseº gateº repairedºª the priests,º every oneº over againstº his house.º 29 Afterº them repairedºª Zadokº the sonº of Immerº over against² his house.º Afterº him repairedºª also Shemaiahº the sonº of Shechaniah,º the keeperºª of the eastº gate.º 30 Afterº him repairedºª Hananiahº the sonº of Shelemiah,º and Hanunº the sixthº sonº of Zalaph,º anotherº piece.º Afterº him repairedºª Meshullamº the sonº of Berechiahº over against² his chamber.º 31 Afterº him repairedºª Malchiahº the goldsmith'sº sonº unto² the placeº of the Nethinims,º and of the merchants,ºª over against² the gateº Miphkad,º and to² the going upº of the corner.º 32 And between² the going upº of the cornerº unto the sheepº gateº repairedºª the goldsmithsºª and the merchants.ºª
