  1 How blessed° is he who aconsiders° the Ihelpless°;
  The LORD° will deliver° him bin a day° of IItrouble°.
  2 The LORD° will aprotect° him and keep° him alive°,
  And he shall Ibe called° bblessed° upon the earth°;
  And cdo not give° him over to the desire° of his enemies°.
  3 The LORD° will sustain° him upon his sickbed°°;
  In his illness°, You Irestore° him to health°°.

  His heart° gathers° wickedness° to itself;
  When he goes° outside°, he tells° it.
  7 All° who hate° me whisper° together° against° me;
  Against° me they adevise° my hurt°, [saying],
  8 “A wicked° thing° is poured° out Iupon him,
  That when° he lies° down°, he will anot rise° up again°.”
  9 Even° my aclose° friend°° in whom° I trusted°,
  Who ate° my bread°,
  Has lifted° up his heel° against° me.

God's care for the poor.

1 ¶ [[To the chief Musician,ºª A Psalmº of David.]]º Blessedº [is] he that considerethºª² the poor:º the LORDº will deliverºª him in timeº of trouble.º 2 The LORDº will preserveºª him, and keep him alive;ºª [and] he shall be blessedºª upon the earth:º and thou wilt not² deliverºª him unto the willº of his enemies.ºª 3 The LORDº will strengthenºª him upon² the bedº of languishing:º thou wilt makeºª all² his bedº in his sickness.º

David complaineth of his enemies' treachery.

4 I² said,ºª LORD,º be mercifulºª unto me: healºª my soul;º for² I have sinnedºª against thee. 5 Mine enemiesºª speakºª evilº of me, When² shall he die,ºª and his nameº perish?ºª 6 And if² he comeºª to seeºª [me], he speakethºª vanity:º his heartº gatherethºª iniquityº to itself; [when] he goethºª abroad,º he tellethºª [it]. 7 All² that hateºª me whisperºª togetherº against² me: against² me do they deviseºª my hurt.º 8 An evilº disease,º [say they], cleaveth fastºª unto him: and [now] that² he liethºª he shall rise upºª no² more.ºª 9 Yea,² mine own familiar¹ friend,º² in whom² I trusted,ºª which did eatºª of my bread,º hath lifted upºª [his] heelº against² me.

He fleeth to God for succour.

10 But thou,² O LORD,º be mercifulºª unto me, and raise me up,ºª that I may requiteºª them. 11 By this² I knowºª that² thou favourestºª me, because² mine enemyºª doth not² triumphºª over² me. 12 And as for me,² thou upholdestºª me in mine integrity,º and settestºª me before thy faceº for ever.º 13 Blessedºª [be] the LORDº Godº of Israelº from everlasting,º² and to² everlasting.º Amen,º and Amen.º
