1 The LORD° spoke° again to Moses° and to Aaron°, saying° to them, 2 “Speak° to the sons° of Israel°, saying°, ‘aThese° are the creatures° which° you may eat° from all° the animals° that are on the earth°. 3 Whatever° divides° a hoof°, thus making° split° hoofs°, [and] chews° the cud°, among the animals°, that you may eat°. 4 Nevertheless°, ayou are not to eat° of these°, among those which chew° the cud°, or among those which divide° the hoof°: the camel°, for though it chews° cud°, it does not divide° the hoof°, it is unclean° to you. 5 Likewise, the Ishaphan°, for though it chews° cud°, it does not divide° the hoof°, it is unclean° to you; 6 the Irabbit° also, for though it chews° cud°, it does not divide° the hoof°, it is unclean° to you; 7 and the pig°, for though it divides° the hoof°, thus making° a split° hoof°, it does not chew° cud°, it is unclean° to you. 8 You shall not eat° of their flesh° nor° touch° their carcasses°; they are unclean° to you.

24 ¶ ‘By these°, moreover, you will be made° unclean°: whoever° touches° their carcasses° becomes° unclean° until° evening°, 25 and awhoever° picks° up any° of their carcasses° shall wash° his clothes° and be unclean° until° evening°. 26 Concerning all° the animals° which° divide° the hoof° but do not make° a split° [hoof], or which do not chew° cud°, they are unclean° to you: whoever° touches° them becomes° unclean°. 27 Also whatever° walks° on its paws°, among all° the creatures° that walk° on [all] fours°, are unclean° to you; whoever° touches° their carcasses° becomes° unclean° until° evening°, 28 and the one who picks° up their carcasses° shall wash° his clothes° and be unclean° until° evening°; they are unclean° to you.

29 ¶ ‘Now these° are to you the unclean° among the swarming° things° which swarm° on the earth°: the mole°, and the mouse°, and the Igreat° lizard° in its kinds°, 30 and the gecko°, and the Icrocodile°, and the lizard°, and the IIsand° reptile°, and the chameleon°. 31 These° are to you the unclean° among all° the swarming° things°; whoever° touches° them when they are dead° becomes° unclean° until° evening°. 32 Also anything° on which° one of them may fall° when they are dead° becomes° unclean°, including° any° wooden° article°, or° clothing°, or° a skin°, or° a sack°—any° article° Iof which° use° is made°ait shall be put° in the water° and be unclean° until° evening°, then it becomes° clean°. 33 As for any° aearthenware° vessel° into which° one of them may fall°, whatever°° is in it becomes° unclean° and you shall break° Ithe vessel. 34 Any°° of the Ifood° which° may be eaten°, on which° water° comes°, shall become° unclean°, and any° Iliquid° which° may be drunk° in every° vessel° shall become° unclean°. 35 Everything°, moreover, on which° part of their carcass° may fall° becomes° unclean°; an oven° or a Istove° shall be smashed°; they are unclean° and shall continue° as unclean° to you. 36 Nevertheless° a spring° or a cistern° Icollecting° water° shall be clean°, though the one who touches° their carcass° shall be unclean°. 37 If° a part of their carcass° falls° on any° seed° for sowing° which° is to be sown°, it is clean°. 38 Though if° water° is put° on the seed° and a part of their carcass° falls° on it, it is unclean° to you.

Consecrate° yourselves therefore, and bbe holy°, for I am holy°. What fishes.

What fowls.

The creeping things which are unclean.

29 ¶ These² also [shall be] uncleanº unto you among the creeping thingsº that creepºª upon² the earth;º the weasel,º and the mouse,º and the tortoiseº after his kind,º 30 And the ferret,º and the chameleon,º and the lizard,º and the snail,º and the mole.º 31 These² [are] uncleanº to you among all² that creep:º whosoever² doth touchºª them, when they be dead,º shall be uncleanºª until² the even.º 32 And upon² whatsoever²² [any] of² them, when they are dead,º doth fall,ºª it shall be unclean;ºª whether [it be] any²² vesselº of wood,º or² raiment,º or² skin,º or² sack,º whatsoever² vesselº [it be], wherein² [any] workº is done,ºª it must be putºª into water,º and it shall be uncleanºª until² the even;º so it shall be cleansed.ºª 33 And every² earthenº vessel,º whereinto²²² [any] of² them falleth,ºª¹ whatsoever²² [is] in² it shall be unclean;ºª and ye shall breakºª it. 34 Of all²² meatº which² may be eaten,ºª [that] on² which² [such] waterº comethºª shall be unclean:ºª and all² drinkº that² may be drunkºª in every² [such] vesselº shall be unclean.ºª 35 And every² [thing] whereupon²² [any part] of their carcaseº² fallethºª shall be unclean;ºª [whether it be] oven,º or ranges¹ for pots,² they shall be broken down:ºª [for] they² [are] unclean,º and shall be² uncleanº unto you. 36 Nevertheless² a fountainº or pit,º [wherein there is] plentyº of water,º shall be² clean:º but that which touchethºª their carcaseº shall be unclean.ºª 37 And if² [any part] of² their carcaseº fallºª upon² any² sowingº seedº which² is to be sown,ºª it² [shall be] clean.º 38 But if² [any] waterº be putºª upon² the seed,º and [any part] of their carcaseº² fallºª thereon,² it² [shall be] uncleanº unto you. 39 And if² any beast,º of² which² ye may eat,º die;ºª he that touchethºª the carcaseº thereof shall be uncleanºª until² the even.º 40 And he that eatethºª of the carcaseº² of it shall washºª his clothes,º and be uncleanºª until² the even:º he also that bearethºª² the carcaseº of it shall washºª his clothes,º and be uncleanºª until² the even.º 41 And every² creeping thingº that creepethºª upon² the earthº [shall be] an abomination;º it shall not² be eaten.ºª 42 Whatsoever² goethºª upon² the belly,º and whatsoever² goethºª upon² [all] four,º or whatsoever² hath moreºª feetº among all² creeping thingsº that creepºª upon² the earth,º them ye shall not² eat;ºª for² they² [are] an abomination.º 43 Ye shall not² make¹ª yourselves¹ abominableºª²² with any² creeping thingº that creepeth,ºª neither² shall ye make yourselves unclean¹ª² with them, that ye should be defiledºª thereby. 44 For² I² [am] the LORDº your God:º ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves,ºª and ye shall be² holy;º for² I² [am] holy:º neither² shall ye defileºª² yourselvesº with any manner² of creeping thingº that creepethºª upon² the earth.º 45 For² I² [am] the LORDº that bringeth¹ª you up²² out of the landº² of Egypt,º to be² your God:º ye shall therefore be² holy,º for² I² [am] holy.º 46 This² [is] the lawº of the beasts,º and of the fowl,º and of every² livingº creatureº that movethºª in the waters,º and of every² creatureº that creepethºª upon² the earth:º 47 To make a differenceºª between² the uncleanº and the clean,º and between² the beastº that may be eatenºª and the beastº that² may not² be eaten.ºª
