4 ¶ So°, being asent° out by the Holy° Spirit°, they went° down° to Seleucia° and from there° they sailed° to bCyprus°. 5 When they reached° Salamis°, they [began] to proclaim° the word° of God° in athe synagogues° of the Jews°; and they also° had° bJohn° as their helper°. 6 When they had gone° through° the whole° island° as far° as Paphos°, they found° a amagician°, a Jewish° bfalse° prophet° whose° name° was Bar-Jesus°, 7 who° was with the aproconsul°, Sergius° Paulus°, a man° of intelligence°. This° man° summoned° Barnabas° and Saul° and sought° to hear° the word° of God°. 8 But Elymas° the amagician° (for so° his name° is translated°) was opposing° them, seeking° to turn° the bproconsul° away° from cthe faith°. 9 But Saul°, who° was also° [known as] Paul°, Iafilled° with the Holy° Spirit°, fixed° his gaze° on him, 10 and said°, “You who are full° of all° deceit° and fraud°, you ason° of the devil°, you enemy° of all° righteousness°, will you not cease° to make° crooked° bthe straight° ways° of the Lord°? 11 Now°, behold°, athe hand° of the Lord° is upon you, and you will be blind° and not see° the sun° for a time°.” And immediately° a mist° and a darkness° fell° upon him, and he went° about° seeking° those who° would lead° him by the hand°. 12 Then° the aproconsul° believed° when he saw° what had happened°, being amazed° at bthe teaching° of the Lord°.

Paul preacheth at Antioch, that Jesus is Chist.

14 ¶ Butº when theyº departedºª fromº Perga,º they cameºª toº Antiochº in Pisidia,º andº wentºª intoº the² synagogueº on the² sabbathº day,º and sat down.ºª 15 Andº afterº the² readingº of the² lawº andº the² prophetsº the² rulers of the synagogueº sentºª untoº them,º saying,ºª [Ye] menº [and] brethren,º ifº ye haveºººª any wordº of exhortationº forº the² people,º say on.ºª 16 Thenº Paulº stood up,ºª andº beckoningºª with [his] handº said,ºª Menº of Israel,º andº ye that fearºª God,º give audience.ºª 17 The² Godº of thisº peopleº of Israelº choseºª ourº fathers,º andº exaltedºª the² peopleº whenº they dwelt as strangersº inº the landº of Egypt,º andº withº an highº armº brought² he¹ª themº out ofº it.º 18 Andº aboutº the timeº of forty yearsº suffered he¹ª their¹ mannersºª² inº the² wilderness.º 19 Andº when he had destroyedºª sevenº nationsº inº the landº of Chanaan,º he divided¹ª their¹ land¹ to them¹ by lot.ººª² 20 Andº afterº thatº he gaveºª [unto them] judgesº about¹ the space of² four hundredº andº fiftyº years,º untilº Samuelº the² prophet.º 21 And afterwardº they desiredºª a king:º andº Godº gaveºª unto themº Saulº the sonº of Cis,º a manº ofº the tribeº of Benjamin,º by the space of fortyº years.º 22 Andº when he had removedºª him,º he raised upºª unto themº Davidº to be¹ their king;º² to whomº alsoº he gave testimony,ºª and said,ºª I have foundºª Davidº the² [son] of Jesse,º a manº afterº mine ownº heart,º whichº shall fulfilºª allº myº will.º 23 Ofº this man'sº seedº hath¹ª Godº accordingº to [his] promiseº raisedºª unto Israelº a Saviour,º Jesus:º 24 When Johnº had first preachedºª beforeº hisº comingº¹ the baptismº of repentanceº to allº the² peopleº of Israel.º 25 Andº asº Johnº fulfilledºª his course,º he said,ºª Whomº think² ye¹ª that Iº am?ºª Iº amºª notº [he]. But,º behold,ºª there cometh² one¹ª afterº me,º whoseº shoesº of [his] feetº I amºª notº worthyº to loose.ºª 26 Menº [and] brethren,º childrenº of the stockº of Abraham,º andº whosoever amongº youº fearethºª God,º to youº is¹ª the² wordº of thisº salvationº sent.ºª 27 Forº they that dwellºª atº Jerusalem,º andº theirº rulers,º because they knew¹ª him¹ not,ºª² nor² yet¹ the² voicesº of the² prophetsº which¹ are readºª¹ everyº² sabbath day,º they have fulfilledºª [them] in condemningºª [him]. 28 Andº though they foundºª noº causeº of deathº [in him], yet desired² they¹ª Pilateº that heº should be slain.ºª 29 Andº whenº they had fulfilledºª allº that was writtenºª ofº him,º they took [him] down¹ª² fromº the² tree,º and laidºª [him] inº a sepulchre.º 30 Butº Godº raisedºª himº fromº the dead:º 31 And heº was seenºª manyº¹ daysº of them which came up withºª himº fromº Galileeº toº Jerusalem,º whoº areºª hisº witnessesº untoº the² people.º 32 Andº weº declare¹ª unto you¹ glad tidings,ºª² how that¹ the² promiseº which was madeºª untoº the² fathers,º 33 ² Godº hath fulfilledºª the sameº unto usº theirº children,º in that he hath raised up¹ª Jesus¹ again;ºª² asº it is¹ª alsoº writtenºª inº the² secondº psalm,º Thouº artºª myº Son,º this dayº have Iº begottenºª thee.º 34 Andº as concerning thatº he raised¹ª him¹ upºª² fromº the dead,º [now] no moreº toºª returnºª toº corruption,º he saidºª on this wise,º¹ I will giveºª youº the² sureº merciesº of David.º 35 Whereforeº he saithºª alsoº inº anotherº [psalm], Thou shalt¹ª notº sufferºª thineº Holy Oneº to seeºª corruption.º 36 Forº¹ David,º after he² had servedºª his ownº generationº by the² willº of God,º fell on sleep,ºª andº was laidºª untoº his¹² fathers,º andº sawºª corruption:º 37 Butº he, whomº Godº raised again,ºª sawºª noº corruption.º
