2 ¶ When the LORD° first° spoke° through Hosea°, the LORD° said° to Hosea°, “aGo°, take° to yourself a wife° of harlotry° and [have] children° of harlotry°; for bthe land° commits° flagrant° harlotry°, Iforsaking°° the LORD°.” 3 So he went° and took° Gomer° the daughter° of Diblaim°, and she conceived° and abore° him a son°. 4 And the LORD° said° to him, “Name°° him aJezreel°; for yet° a little° while°, and bI will Ipunish° the house° of Jehu° for the bloodshed° of Jezreel°, and cI will put° an end° to the kingdom° of the house° of Israel°. 5 On that day° I will abreak° the bow° of Israel° in the bvalley° of Jezreel°.”

6 ¶ Then she conceived° again° and gave° birth° to a daughter°. And Ithe LORD said° to him, “Name°° her IILo-ruhamah°, for I will no° longer°° ahave° compassion° on the house° of Israel°, that I would ever° forgive° them. 7 But I will have° acompassion° on the house° of Judah° and bdeliver° them by the LORD° their God°, and will not deliver° them by cbow°, sword°, battle°, horses° or horsemen°.”

Hosea, to shew God's judgment for spiritual whoredom, taketh Gomer,

6 ¶ And she conceived² again,¹ ª ² and bareº ª a daughter.º And [God] saidº ª unto him, Callº ª her nameº Loruhamah:º ª for² I will no² moreº ª ² have mercy¹ ª upon² ² the houseº of Israel;º but² I will utterly¹ ª take them away.º ª 7 But I will have mercy¹ ª upon² the houseº of Judah,º and will saveº ª them by the LORDº their God,º and will not² saveº ª them by bow,º nor by sword,º nor by battle,º by horses,º nor by horsemen.º

10 ¶ Yet the numberº of the childrenº of Israelº shall be² as the sandº of the sea,º which² cannot² be measuredº ª nor² numbered;º ª and it shall come to pass,² [that] in the placeº where² it was saidº ª unto them, Ye² [are] not² my people,º [there] it shall be saidº ª unto them, [Ye are] the sonsº of the livingº God.º 11 Then shall the childrenº of Judahº and the childrenº of Israelº be gathered¹ ª together,º ² and appointº ª themselves oneº head,º and they shall come upº ª out of² the land:º for² greatº [shall be] the dayº of Jezreel.º
