God Will Bless Judah and Ephraim

1 Ask° arain° from the LORD° at the time° of the spring° rain°—
  The LORD° who bmakes° the Istorm° clouds°;
  And He will give° them cshowers° of rain°, vegetation° in the field° to [each] man°.
  2 For the ateraphim° speak° Iiniquity°,
  And the bdiviners° see° IIlying° visions°
  And tell° cfalse° dreams°;
  They comfort° in vain°.
  Therefore°° [the people] IIIwander° like° dsheep°,
  They are afflicted°, because° there° is no° shepherd°.
  3 “My aanger° is kindled° against° the shepherds°,
  And I will punish° the Imale° goats°;
  For the LORD° of hosts° has bvisited° His flock°, the house° of Judah°,
  And will make° them like His majestic° horse° in battle°.
  4 “From Ithem will come° the acornerstone°,
  From Ithem the tent° peg°,
  From Ithem the bow° of bbattle°,
  From Ithem every° IIruler°, [all] of them together°.
  5 “They will be as mighty° men°,
  aTreading° down° [the enemy] in the mire° of the streets° in battle°;
  And they will fight°, for the LORD° [will be] with them;
  And the briders° on horses° will be put° to shame°.
  6 “I will astrengthen° the house° of Judah°,
  And I will bsave° the house° of Joseph°,
  And I will I cbring° them back°,
  Because° I have° had° dcompassion° on them;
  And they will be as though° I had enot rejected° them,
  For I am the LORD° their God° and I will fanswer° them.
  7 “Ephraim° will be like a mighty° man°,
  And their heart° will be glad° as if° [from] wine°;
  Indeed, their achildren° will see° [it] and be glad°,
  ITheir heart° will rejoice° in the LORD°.
  8 “I will awhistle° for them to gather° them together,
  For I have redeemed° them;
  And they will be as bnumerous° as they I cwere before.
  9 “When I Iscatter° them among the peoples°,
  They will aremember° Me in far° countries°,
  And they with their children° will live° and come° back°.
  10 “I will abring° them back° from the land° of Egypt°
  And gather° them from Assyria°;
  And I will bring° them into the land° of bGilead° and Lebanon°
  IUntil cno° [room] can be found° for them.
  11 “And they will pass° through the asea° [of] distress°
  And He will strike° the waves° in the sea°,
  So that all° the depths° of the bNile° will dry° up;
  And the pride° of cAssyria° will be brought° down°
  And the scepter° of dEgypt° will depart°.
  12 “And I will astrengthen° them in the LORD°,
  And in His name° bthey will walk°,” declares° the LORD°.

As he visited his flock for sin, so he will save and restore them.

5 ¶ And they shall be² as mightyº [men], which tread downº ª [their enemies] in the mireº of the streetsº in the battle:º and they shall fight,º ª because² the LORDº [is] with² them, and the ridersº ª on horsesº shall be confounded.¹ ª ² 6 And I will strengthenº ª ² the houseº of Judah,º and I will saveº ª the houseº of Joseph,º and I will bring them again² to place¹ ª them; for² I have mercy¹ ª upon² them: and they shall be² as thoughº I had not² cast them off:º ª for² I² [am] the LORDº their God,º and will hearº ª them. 7 And [they of] Ephraimº shall be² like a mightyº [man], and their heartº shall rejoiceº ª as through² wine:º yea, their childrenº shall seeº ª [it], and be glad;º ª their heartº shall rejoiceº ª in the LORD.º 8 I will hissº ª for them, and gatherº ª them; for² I have redeemedº ª them: and they shall increaseº ª as² they have increased.º ª 9 And I will sowº ª them among the people:º and they shall rememberº ª me in far countries;º and they shall liveº ª with² their children,º and turn again.º ª 10 I will bring them againº ª also out of the landº ² of Egypt,º and gatherº ª them out of Assyria;º ² and I will bringº ª them into² the landº of Gileadº and Lebanon;º and [place] shall not² be foundº ª for them. 11 And he shall pass² through¹ ª the seaº with affliction,º and shall smiteº ª the wavesº in the sea,º and all² the deepsº of the riverº shall dry up:º ª and the prideº of Assyriaº shall be brought down,º ª and the sceptreº of Egyptº shall depart away.º ª 12 And I will strengthenº ª them in the LORD;º and they shall walk up and downº ª in his name,º saithº ª the LORD.º
