The time of Ezekiel's prophecy at Chebar.

1 ¶ Now it came to pass² in the thirtiethº year,º in the fourthº [month], in the fifthº [day] of the month,º as I² [was] amongº the captivesº by² the riverº of Chebar,º [that] the heavensº were opened,ºª and I sawºª visionsº of God.º 2 In the fifthº [day] of the month,º which² [was] the fifthº yearº of kingº Jehoiachin'sº captivity,º 3 The wordº of the LORDº came expresslyº unto² Ezekielº the priest,º the sonº of Buzi,º in the landº of the Chaldeansº by² the riverº Chebar;º and the handº of the LORDº was² there² upon² him.

His vision of the four cherubims,

4 ¶ And I looked,ºª and, behold,² a whirlwindºº cameºª out of² the north,º a greatº cloud,º and a fireº infolding¹ª itself,² and a brightnessº [was] aboutº it, and out of the midstº² thereof as the colourº of amber,º out of the midstº² of the fire.º 5 Also out of the midstº² thereof [came] the likenessº of fourº living creatures.º And this² [was] their appearance;º theyº had the likenessº of a man.º 6 And every oneº had fourº faces,º and every oneº had fourº wings.º 7 And their feetº [were] straightº feet;º and the soleº of their feetº [was] like the soleº of a calf'sº foot:º and they sparkledºª like the colourº of burnishedº brass.º 8 And [they had] the handsº of a manº under²² their wingsº on² their fourº sides;º and they fourº had their facesº and their wings.º 9 Their wingsº [were] joinedºª oneº to² another;º they turnedºª not² when they went;¹ª² they went¹ª² every oneº straightº forward.º 10 As for the likenessº of their faces,º they fourº had the faceº of a man,º and the faceº of a lion,º on² the right side:º and they fourº had the faceº of an oxº on the left side;º² they fourº also had the faceº of an eagle.º 11 Thus [were] their faces:º and their wingsº [were] stretchedºª upward;º² twoº [wings] of every oneº [were] joinedºª one¹ to another,º and twoº coveredºª² their bodies.º 12 And they went¹ª² every oneº straightº forward:º whither²² the spiritº was² to go,¹ª² they went;¹ª² [and] they turnedºª not² when they went.¹ª² 13 As for the likenessº of the living creatures,º their appearanceº [was] like burningºª coalsº of fire,º [and] like the appearanceº of lamps:º it² went up and downºª among² the living creatures;º and the fireº was bright,º and out of² the fireº went forthºª lightning.º 14 And the living creaturesº ranºª and returnedºª as the appearanceº of a flash of lightning.º

of the four wheels,

15 ¶ Now as I beheldºª the living creatures,º behold² oneº wheelº upon the earthº byº the living creatures,º with his fourº faces.º 16 The appearanceº of the wheelsº and their workº [was] like unto the colourº of a beryl:º and they fourº had oneº likeness:º and their appearanceº and their workº [was] as² it were² a wheelº in the middleº of a wheel.º 17 When they went,¹ª² they went¹ª² upon² their fourº sides:º [and] they turnedºª not² when they went.¹ª² 18 As for their rings,º they were so highº that they were dreadful;º and their ringsº [were] fullº of eyesº round aboutº them four.º 19 And when the living creaturesº went,¹ª² the wheelsº went¹ª² by² them:¹ and when the living creaturesº were lifted upºª from²² the earth,º the wheelsº were lifted up.ºª 20 Whithersoever²²² the spiritº was² to go,¹ª² they went,¹ª² thither² [was their] spiritº to go;¹ª² and the wheelsº were lifted upºª over againstº them: for² the spiritº of the living creatureº [was] in the wheels.º 21 When those went,¹ª² [these] went;¹ª² and when those stood,ºª [these] stood;ºª and when those were lifted upºª from²² the earth,º the wheelsº were lifted upºª over againstº them: for² the spiritº of the living creatureº [was] in the wheels.º 22 And the likenessº of the firmamentº upon² the headsº of the living creatureº [was] as the colourº of the terribleºª crystal,º stretched forthºª over² their headsº above.º² 23 And under² the firmamentº [were] their wingsº straight,º the oneº toward² the other:º every oneº had two,º which coveredºª on this side,º and every oneº had two,º which coveredºª on that side,º² their bodies.º 24 And when they went,¹ª² I heardºª² the noiseº of their wings,º like the noiseº of greatº waters,º as the voiceº of the Almighty,º the voiceº of speech,º as the noiseº of an host:º when they stood,ºª they let downºª their wings.º 25 And there was² a voiceº from²² the firmamentº that² [was] over² their heads,º when they stood,ºª [and] had let downºª their wings.º

and of the glory of the LORD.

26 ¶ And aboveº² the firmamentº that² [was] over² their headsº [was] the likenessº of a throne,º as the appearanceº of a sapphireº stone:º and upon² the likenessº of the throneº [was] the likenessº as the appearanceº of a manº aboveº² upon² it. 27 And I sawºª as the colourº of amber,º as the appearanceº of fireº round aboutº withinº it, from the appearanceº² of his loinsº even upward,º and from the appearanceº² of his loinsº even downward,º I sawºª as it were the appearanceº of fire,º and it had brightnessº round about.º 28 As the appearanceº of the bowº that² is² in the cloudº in the dayº of rain,º so² [was] the appearanceº of the brightnessº round about.º This² [was] the appearanceº of the likenessº of the gloryº of the LORD.º And when I sawºª [it], I fellºª upon² my face,º and I heardºª a voiceº of one that spake.ºª
