The place, and time of building the Temple.

1 ¶ Then Solomonº beganºª to buildºª² the houseº of the LORDº at Jerusalemº in mountº Moriah,º where² [the LORD] appearedºª unto Davidº his father,º in the placeº that² Davidº had preparedºª in the threshingfloorº of Ornanº the Jebusite.º 2 And he beganºª to buildºª in the secondº [day] of the secondº month,º in the fourthº yearº of his reign.º

The measure and ornaments of the house.

3 ¶ Now these² [are the things wherein] Solomonº was instructedºª for the buildingºª² of the houseº of God.º The lengthº by cubitsº after the firstº measureº [was] threescoreº cubits,º and the breadthº twentyº cubits.º 4 And the porchº that² [was] in² the frontº [of the house], the lengthº [of it was] according to²² the breadthº of the house,º twentyº cubits,º and the heightº [was] an hundredº and twenty:º and he overlaidºª it withinº² with pureº gold.º 5 And the greaterº houseº he cieledºª with firº tree,º which he overlaidºª with fineº gold,º and setºª thereon² palm treesº and chains.º 6 And he garnishedºª² the houseº with preciousº stonesº for beauty:º and the goldº [was] goldº of Parvaim.º 7 He overlaidºª also² the house,º the beams,º the posts,º and the wallsº thereof, and the doorsº thereof, with gold;º and gravedºª cherubimsº on² the walls.º 8 And he madeºª² the most¹ holyº house,º the lengthº whereof [was] according toº² the breadthº of the house,º twentyº cubits,º and the breadthº thereof twentyº cubits:º and he overlaidºª it with fineº gold,º [amounting] to sixº hundredº talents.º 9 And the weightº of the nailsº [was] fiftyº shekelsº of gold.º And he overlaidºª the upper chambersº with gold.º

The cherubims.

10 And in the most¹ holyº houseº he madeºª twoº cherubimsº of imageº work,º and overlaidºª them with gold.º

11 ¶ And the wingsº of the cherubimsº [were] twentyº cubitsº long:º oneº wingº [of the one cherub was] fiveº cubits,º reachingºª to the wallº of the house:º and the otherº wingº [was likewise] fiveº cubits,º reachingºª to the wingº of the otherº cherub.º 12 And [one] wingº of the otherº cherubº [was] fiveº cubits,º reachingºª to the wallº of the house:º and the otherº wingº [was] fiveº cubitsº [also], joiningº to the wingº of the otherº cherub.º 13 The wingsº of these² cherubimsº spread themselves forthºª twentyº cubits:º and they² stoodºª on² their feet,º and their facesº [were] inward.º

The vail and pillars.

14 ¶ And he madeºª² the vailº [of] blue,º and purple,º and crimson,º and fine linen,º and wroughtºª cherubimsº thereon.² 15 Also he madeºª beforeº the houseº twoº pillarsº of thirtyº and fiveº cubitsº high,º and the chapiterº that² [was] on² the topº of each of them [was] fiveº cubits.º 16 And he madeºª chains,º [as] in the oracle,º and putºª [them] on² the headsº of the pillars;º and madeºª an hundredº pomegranates,º and putºª [them] on the chains.º 17 And he reared upºª² the pillarsº beforeº² the temple,º oneº on the right hand,º² and the otherº on the left;º² and calledºª the nameº of that on the right handº¹ª Jachin,º and the nameº of that on the leftº Boaz.º
