Paul Defends His Apostleship

1 I wish° that you would abear° with me in a little° bfoolishness°; but Iindeed° you are bearing° with me. 2 For I am° jealous° for you with a godly° jealousy°; for I abetrothed° you to one° husband°, so that to Christ° I might bpresent° you [as] a pure° virgin°. 3 But I am° afraid° that, as the aserpent° deceived° Eve° by his craftiness°, your minds° will be led° astray° from the simplicity° and purity° [of devotion] to Christ°. 4 For if° Ione comes° and preaches° aanother° Jesus° whom° we have not preached°, or° you receive° a bdifferent° spirit° which° you have not received°, or° a cdifferent° gospel° which° you have not accepted°, you dbear° [this] ebeautifully°. 5 For I consider° myself anot in the least° inferior° to the Imost° eminent° apostles°. 6 But even° if° I am aunskilled° in speech°, yet° I am not [so] in bknowledge°; in fact°, in every° way° we have cmade° [this] evident° to you in all° things°.

Out of his jealousy over the Corinthians, who seemed to make more account of the false apostles than of him, he entereth into a forced commendation of himself,

1 ¶ Would to Godº ye could bear¹ª with² meº a little¹² in [my] folly:º and¹² indeed¹² bear¹ª with² me.º 2 Forº I am jealousºª over youº with godlyº jealousy:º forº I have espousedºª youº to oneº husband,º that I may presentºª [you as] a chasteº virginº to Christ.º 3 Butº I fear,ºª lest¹ by any means,¹² asº the² serpentº beguiledºª Eveº throughº his¹² subtilty,º soº yourº mindsº should be corruptedºª fromº the² simplicityº that² is inº Christ.º 4 Forº ifº¹ he that comethºª preachethºª anotherº Jesus,º whomº we have¹ª notº preached,ºª orº [if] ye receiveºª anotherº spirit,º whichº ye have¹ª notº received,ºª orº anotherº gospel,º whichº ye have¹ª notº accepted,ºª ye might¹ª wellº bear withºª [him].
