Servants of Christ

1 Let a man° regard° us in this° manner°, as aservants° of Christ° and bstewards° of cthe mysteries° of God°. 2 In this° case°, moreover°, it is required° Iof stewards° that one° be found° trustworthy°. 3 But to me it is a very° small° thing° that I may be examined° by you, or° by [any] human° Icourt°; in fact°, I do not even° examine° myself°. 4 For I aam° conscious° of nothing° against myself°, yet° I am not by this° bacquitted°; but the one who examines° me is the Lord°. 5 Therefore° ado not go on Ipassing° judgment° before° IIthe time°, [but wait] buntil° the Lord° comes° who° will both° cbring° to light° the things° hidden° in the darkness° and disclose° the motives° of [men’s] hearts°; and then° each° man’s° dpraise° will come° to him from God°.

In what account the ministers ought to be had.

1 ¶ Let¹ª a manº soº accountºª of us,º asº of the ministersº of Christ,º andº stewardsº of the mysteriesº of God.º 2 º¹ Moreoverº² it is requiredºª inº stewards,º thatº a manº be foundºª faithful.º 3 Butº with meº it isºª a² very small thingº¹ thatº I should be judgedºª ofº you,º orº ofº man'sº judgment:º yea,º I judgeºª notº mine own self.º 4 Forº I knowºª nothingº by myself;º yetº am I¹ª notº herebyºº justified:ºª butº he that judgethºª meº isºª the Lord.º 5 Thereforeº judgeºª nothingºº beforeº the time,º untilºº the² Lordº come,ºª whoº bothº will bring to lightºª the² hidden thingsº of darkness,º andº will make manifestºª the² counselsº of the² hearts:º andº thenº shall every manº haveºª praiseº ofº God.º 6 Andº these things,º brethren,º I have in a figure transferredºª toº myselfº andº [to] Apollosº for¹ your sakes;º² thatº ye might learnºª inº usº notº to thinkºª [of men] aboveº that¹ whichº is written,ºª that² no¹² oneº of you be puffed upºª forº oneº againstº another.º
