An exhortation to obedience in regard of God's dealing with them.

1 ¶ All² the commandmentsº which² I² commandºª thee this dayº shall ye observeºª to do,ºª that² ye may live,ºª and multiply,ºª and go inºª and possessºª² the landº which² the LORDº swareºª unto your fathers.º 2 And thou shalt rememberºª² all² the wayº which² the LORDº thy Godº led¹ª² thee these² fortyº yearsº in the wilderness,º to² humbleºª thee, [and] to proveºª thee, to knowºª² what² [was] in thine heart,º whether thou wouldest keepºª his commandments,º or² no.² 3 And he humbledºª thee, and suffered thee to hunger,ºª and fedºª thee with² manna,º which² thou knewestºª not,² neither² did thy fathersº know;ºª that² he might make thee knowºª that² manº doth not² liveºª by² breadº only,º but² by² every² [word] that proceedeth¹ out² of the mouthº of the LORDº doth manº live.ºª 4 Thy raimentº waxed not oldºª² upon²² thee, neither² did thy footº swell,ºª these² fortyº years.º 5 Thou shalt also considerºª inº thine heart,º that,² as² a manº chastenethºª² his son,º [so] the LORDº thy Godº chastenethºª thee. 6 Therefore thou shalt keepºª² the commandmentsº of the LORDº thy God,º to walk¹ª² in his ways,º and to fearºª him. 7 For² the LORDº thy Godº bringethºª thee into² a goodº land,º a landº of brooksº of water,º of fountainsº and depthsº that spring outºª of valleysº and hills;º 8 A landº of wheat,º and barley,º and vines,º and fig trees,º and pomegranates;º a landº of oilº olive,º and honey;º 9 A landº whereinº thou shalt eatºª breadº withoutº scarceness,º thou shalt not² lackºª any² [thing] in it; a landº whose² stonesº [are] iron,º and out of whose hillsº² thou mayest digºª brass.º 10 When thou hast eatenºª and art full,ºª then thou shalt blessºª² the LORDº thy Godº for² the goodº landº which² he hath givenºª thee. 11 Bewareºª that thou forget¹ª not²²² the LORDº thy God,º in not² keepingºª his commandments,º and his judgments,º and his statutes,º which² I² commandºª thee this day:º 12 Lest² [when] thou hast eatenºª and art full,ºª and hast builtºª goodlyº houses,º and dweltºª [therein]; 13 And [when] thy herdsº and thy flocksº multiply,ºª and thy silverº and thy goldº is multiplied,ºª and all² that² thou hast is multiplied;ºª 14 Then thine heartº be lifted up,ºª and thou forgetºª² the LORDº thy God,º which brought thee forthºª out of the landº² of Egypt,º from the houseº² of bondage;º 15 Who led¹ª² thee through that greatº and terribleºª wilderness,º [wherein were] fieryº serpents,º and scorpions,º and drought,º where² [there was] no² water;º who brought thee forthºª waterº out of the rockº² of flint;º 16 Who fedºª thee in the wildernessº with manna,º which² thy fathersº knewºª not,² that² he might humbleºª thee, and that² he might proveºª thee, to do thee goodºª at thy latter end;º 17 And thou sayºª in thine heart,º My powerº and the mightº of [mine] handº hath gottenºª me² this² wealth.º 18 But thou shalt rememberºª² the LORDº thy God:º for² [it is] he² that givethºª thee powerº to getºª wealth,º that² he may establishºª² his covenantº which² he swareºª unto thy fathers,º as [it is] this² day.º 19 And it shall be,² if² thou do at all¹ª forgetºª² the LORDº thy God,º and walkºª afterº otherº gods,º and serveºª them, and worshipºª them, I testifyºª against you this dayº that² ye shall surely¹ª perish.ºª 20 As the nationsº which² the LORDº destroyethºª before your face,º² so² shall ye perish;ºª becauseº ye would not² be obedientºª unto the voiceº of the LORDº your God.º
