Monuments of idolatry are to be destroyed.

1 ¶ These² [are] the statutesº and judgments,º which² ye shall observeºª to doºª in the land,º which² the LORDº Godº of thy fathersº givethºª thee to possessºª it, all² the daysº that² ye² liveº upon² the earth.º 2 Ye shall utterlyºª destroyºª² all² the places,º wherein²² the nationsº whichº² ye² shall possessºª servedºª² their gods,º upon² the highºª mountains,º and upon² the hills,º and under² every² greenº tree:º 3 And ye shall overthrowºª² their altars,º and breakºª² their pillars,º and burnºª their grovesº with fire;º and ye shall hew downºª the graven imagesº of their gods,º and destroyºª² the namesº of them out of² that² place.º 4 Ye shall not² do² so¹ª² unto the LORDº your God.º

The place of God's service is to be kept.

5 But²² unto² the placeº which² the LORDº your Godº shall chooseºª out of all²² your tribesº to putºª² his nameº there,² [even] unto his habitationº shall ye seek,ºª and thither² thou shalt come:ºª 6 And thither² ye shall bringºª your burnt offerings,º and your sacrifices,º and your tithes,º and² heave offeringsº of your hand,º and your vows,º and your freewill offerings,º and the firstlingsº of your herdsº and of your flocks:º 7 And there² ye shall eatºª beforeº the LORDº your God,º and ye shall rejoiceºª in all² that ye putº your handº unto, ye² and your households,º wherein² the LORDº thy Godº hath blessedºª thee. 8 Ye shall not² doºª after all² [the things] that² we² doºª here² this day,º every manº whatsoever² [is] rightº in his own eyes.º 9 For² ye are not² as yet²² comeºª to² the restº and to² the inheritance,º which² the LORDº your Godº givethºª you. 10 But [when] ye go overºª² Jordan,º and dwellºª in the landº which² the LORDº your Godº giveth you to inherit,ºª² and [when] he giveth you restºª from all²² your enemiesºª round about,º² so that ye dwellºª in safety;º 11 Then there shall be² a placeº which² the LORDº your Godº shall chooseºª to cause his nameº to dwellºª there;² thither² shall ye bringºª² all² that² I² commandºª you; your burnt offerings,º and your sacrifices,º your tithes,º and the heave offeringº of your hand,º and all² your choiceº vowsº which² ye vowºª unto the LORD:º 12 And ye shall rejoiceºª beforeº the LORDº your God,º ye,² and your sons,º and your daughters,º and your menservants,º and your maidservants,º and the Leviteº that² [is] within your gates;º forasmuchº as he hath no² partº nor inheritanceº with² you. 13 Take heedºª to thyself that² thou offerºª not thy burnt offeringsº in every² placeº that² thou seest:ºª 14 But²² in the placeº which² the LORDº shall chooseºª in oneº of thy tribes,º there² thou shalt offerºª thy burnt offerings,º and there² thou shalt doºª all² that² I² commandºª thee. 15 Notwithstanding² thou mayest killºª and eatºª fleshº in all² thy gates,º whatsoever² thy soulº lusteth after,º according to the blessingº of the LORDº thy Godº which² he hath givenºª thee: the uncleanº and the cleanº may eatºª thereof, as of the roebuck,º and as of the hart.º

Blood is forbidden.

16 Only² ye shall not² eatºª the blood;º ye shall pourºª it upon² the earthº as water.º

Holy things must be eaten in the holy place.

17 ¶ Thou mayestºª not² eatºª within thy gatesº the titheº of thy corn,º or of thy wine,º or of thy oil,º or the firstlingsº of thy herdsº or of thy flock,º nor any² of thy vowsº which² thou vowest,ºª nor thy freewill offerings,º or heave offeringº of thine hand:º 18 But²² thou must eatºª them beforeº the LORDº thy Godº in the placeº which² the LORDº thy Godº shall choose,ºª thou,² and thy son,º and thy daughter,º and thy manservant,º and thy maidservant,º and the Leviteº that² [is] within thy gates:º and thou shalt rejoiceºª beforeº the LORDº thy Godº in all² that thou puttestº thine handsº unto.

The Levite is not to be forsaken.

19 Take heedºª to thyself that thou forsake¹ª not²²² the Leviteº as long as thou livestº² upon² the earth.º

20 ¶ When² the LORDº thy Godº shall enlargeºª² thy border,º as² he hath promisedºª thee, and thou shalt say,ºª I will eatºª flesh,º because² thy soulº longethºª to eatºª flesh;º thou mayest eatºª flesh,º whatsoever² thy soulº lusteth after.º 21 If² the placeº which² the LORDº thy Godº hath chosenºª to putºª his nameº there² be too farºª from² thee, then thou shalt killºª of thy herdº² and of thy flock,º² which² the LORDº hath givenºª thee, as² I have commandedºª thee, and thou shalt eatºª in thy gatesº whatsoever² thy soulº lusteth after.º 22 Even² as²² the roebuckº and the hartº is eaten,ºª so² thou shalt eatºª them: the uncleanº and the cleanº shall eatºª [of] them alike.º

23 Only² be sureºª that thou eatºª not² the blood:º for² the bloodº [is] the life;º and thou mayest not² eatºª the lifeº with² the flesh.º 24 Thou shalt not² eatºª it; thou shalt pourºª it upon² the earthº as water.º 25 Thou shalt not² eatºª it; that² it may go wellºª with thee, and with thy childrenº afterº thee, when² thou shalt doºª [that which is] rightº in the sightº of the LORD.º

26 Only² thy holy thingsº which² thou hast,² and thy vows,º thou shalt take,ºª and goºª unto² the placeº which² the LORDº shall choose:ºª 27 And thou shalt offerºª thy burnt offerings,º the fleshº and the blood,º upon² the altarº of the LORDº thy God:º and the bloodº of thy sacrificesº shall be poured outºª upon² the altarº of the LORDº thy God,º and thou shalt eatºª the flesh.º 28 Observeºª and hearºª² all² these² wordsº which² I² commandºª thee, that² it may go wellºª with thee, and with thy childrenº afterº thee for¹ ever,º² when² thou doestºª [that which is] goodº and rightº in the sightº of the LORDº thy God.º

Idolatry is not to be enquired after.

29 ¶ When² the LORDº thy Godº shall cut offºª² the nationsº from beforeº² thee, whither²² thou² goestºª to possessºª them, and thou succeedestºª them, and dwellestºª in their land;º 30 Take heedºª to thyself that² thou be not snaredºª by followingº them, after¹ that² they be destroyedºª from beforeº² thee; and that² thou enquireºª not after their gods,º saying,ºª How² did these² nationsº serveºª² their gods?º even so² will I² doºª likewise.º 31 Thou shalt not² doºª so² unto the LORDº thy God:º for² every² abominationº to the LORD,º which² he hateth,ºª have they doneºª unto their gods;º for² even²² their sonsº and their daughtersº they have burntºª in the fireº to their gods.º 32 ² What thing¹ soever²²² I² commandºª you, observeºª to doºª it: thou shalt not² addºª thereto,² nor² diminishºª from² it.
