The wickedness of the world, which provoked God's wrath, and caused the flood.

1 ¶ And it came to pass,² when² menº beganºª to multiplyºª onº the faceº of the earth,º and daughtersº were bornºª unto them, 2 That the sonsº of Godº sawºª² the daughtersº of menº that² theyº [were] fair;º and they tookºª them wivesº of all²² which² they chose.ºª 3 And the LORDº said,ºª My spiritº shall not² alwaysº striveºª with man,º for that he² alsoº² [is] flesh:º¹ª yet his daysº shall be² an hundredº and twentyº years.º 4 There were² giantsº in the earthº in those² days;º and also² afterº that,º whenº the sonsº of Godº came inºª unto² the daughtersº of men,º and they bareºª [children] to them, the sameº [became] mighty menº which² [were] of old,º² men¹² of renown.º

5 ¶ And GODº sawºª that² the wickednessº of manº [was] greatº in the earth,º and [that] every² imaginationº of the thoughtsº of his heartº [was] onlyº evilº continually.º² 6 And it repentedºª the LORDº that² he had madeºª² manº on the earth,º and it grievedºª him atº his heart.º 7 And the LORDº said,ºª I will destroyºª² manº whom² I have createdºª from²² the faceº of the earth;º both man,º² andº beast,º and² the creeping thing,º and² the fowlsº of the air;º for² it repentethºª me that² I have madeºª them.

Noah findeth grace.

8 But Noahº foundºª graceº in the eyesº of the LORD.º

9 ¶ These² [are] the generationsº of Noah:º Noahº was² a justº manº [and] perfectº in his generations,º [and] Noahº walkedºª with² God.º 10 And Noahº begatºª threeº sons,º² Shem,º² Ham,º and Japheth.º 11 The earthº also was corruptºª beforeº God,º and the earthº was filledºª with violence.º 12 And Godº looked¹ª upon²² the earth,º and, behold,² it was corrupt;ºª for² all² fleshº had corruptedºª² his wayº upon² the earth.º 13 And Godº saidºª unto Noah,º The endº of all² fleshº is comeºª before² me;¹ for² the earthº is filled² with¹ª violenceº through them;º² and, behold,² I will destroyºª them withº the earth.º

The order, form, and end of the ark.

14 ¶ Makeºª thee an arkº of gopherº wood;º roomsº shalt thou makeºª² in¹ the ark,º and shalt pitchºª it withinº² and withoutº² with pitch.º 15 And this² [is the fashion] which² thou shalt makeºª it [of]: The lengthº of the arkº [shall be] threeº hundredº cubits,º the breadthº of it fiftyº cubits,º and the heightº of it thirtyº cubits.º 16 A windowº shalt thou makeºª to the ark,º and in² a cubitº shalt thou finishºª it above;º² and the doorº of the arkº shalt thou setºª in the side² thereof;¹ [with] lower,º second,º and thirdº [stories] shalt thou makeºª it. 17 And, behold,º I,¹ even I,² do bringºª² a floodº of watersº upon² the earth,º to destroyºª all² flesh,º wherein² [is] the breathº of life,º from underº² heaven;º [and] every thingº that² [is] in the earthº shall die.ºª 18 But with² thee will I establishºª² my covenant;º and thou shalt comeºª intoº the ark,º thou,º and thy sons,º and thy wife,º and thy sons'º wivesº with² thee. 19 And of every²² living thingº of all²² flesh,º twoº of every²² [sort] shalt thou bringºª into² the ark,º to keep [them] aliveºª with² thee; they shall be² maleº and female.º 20 Of fowlsº² after their kind,º and of² cattleº after their kind,º of every²² creeping thingº of the earthº after his kind,º twoº of every²² [sort] shall comeºª unto² thee, to keep [them] alive.ºª 21 And takeºª thou² unto thee of all²² foodº that² is eaten,ºª and thou shalt gatherºª [it] to² thee; and it shall be² for foodº for thee, and for them. 22 Thus didºª Noah;º according to all² that² Godº commandedºª him, so² didºª he.
