Folly and Wickedness of Men.

For the choir director; according to Mahalath. A Maskil of David.

  1 aThe fool° has said° in his heart°, “There° is no° God°,”
  They are corrupt°, and have committed° abominable° injustice°;
  bThere° is no° one° who does° good°.
  2 God° has looked° down° from heaven° upon the sons° of men°
  To see° if there° is aanyone who Iunderstands°,
  Who bseeks° after God°.
  3 aEvery° one° of them has turned° aside°; together° they have become° corrupt°;
  There° is no° one° who does° good°, not even° one°.

  Who eat° up My people° [as though] they ate° bread°

  For God° bscattered° the bones° of IIhim who encamped° against you;
  You cput° [them] to shame°, because° dGod° had rejected° them.
  6 Oh°°, that athe salvation° of Israel° Iwould come out of Zion°!
  When God° IIrestores° His captive° people°,
  IIILet Jacob° rejoice°, let Israel° be glad°.

David describeth the corruption of a natural man.

He convinceth the wicked by the light of their own conscience.

4 Have the workersºª of iniquityº no² knowledge?ºª who eat upºª my peopleº [as] they eatºª bread:º they have not² called¹ª upon² God.º 5 There² were they in great¹ fear,ºª² [where] no² fearº was:² for² Godº hath scatteredºª the bonesº of him that encampethºª [against] thee: thou hast put [them] to shame,ºª because² Godº hath despisedºª them.
