Deborah and Barak deliver Israel from Jabin and Sisera.

1 ¶ And the childrenº of Israelº againºª didºª evilº in the sightº of the LORD,º when Ehud¹² was dead.ºª 2 And the LORDº soldºª them into the handº of Jabinº kingº of Canaan,º that² reignedºª in Hazor;º the captainº of whose hostº [was] Sisera,º which² dweltºª in Harosheth¹ of the Gentiles.¹² 3 And the childrenº of Israelº criedºª unto² the LORD:º for² he had nineº hundredº chariotsº of iron;º and twentyº yearsº he² mightily¹² oppressedºª² the childrenº of Israel.º

4 ¶ And Deborah,º a prophetess,º² the wifeº of Lapidoth,º she² judgedºª² Israelº at that² time.º 5 And she² dweltºª under² the palm treeº of Deborahº between² Ramahº and Bethelº in mountº Ephraim:º and the childrenº of Israelº came upºª to² her for judgment.º 6 And she sentºª and calledºª Barakº the sonº of Abinoamº out of Kedeshnaphtali,º²² and saidºª unto² him, Hath not² the LORDº Godº of Israelº commanded,ºª [saying], Go¹ª² and drawºª toward mountº Tabor,º and takeºª with² thee tenº thousandº menº of the childrenº² of Naphtaliº and of the childrenº² of Zebulun?º 7 And I will drawºª unto² thee to² the riverº Kishonº² Sisera,º the captainº of Jabin'sº army,º with his chariotsº and his multitude;º and I will deliverºª him into thine hand.º 8 And Barakº saidºª unto² her, If² thou wilt go¹ª² with² me, then I will go:ºª but if² thou wilt not² go¹ª² with² me, [then] I will not² go.¹ª² 9 And she said,ºª I will surely¹ª goº¹ª with² thee: notwithstanding¹²² the journeyº that² thou² takestºª shall not² be² for thine honour;º for² the LORDº shall sellºª² Siseraº into the handº of a woman.º And Deborahº arose,ºª and went¹ª² with² Barakº to Kedesh.º

10 ¶ And Barakº calledºª² Zebulunº and Naphtaliº to Kedesh;º and he went upºª with tenº thousandº menº at his feet:º and Deborahº went upºª with² him. 11 Now Heberº the Kenite,¹² [which was] of the childrenº² of Hobabº the father in lawºª of Moses,º had severed¹ª himself² from the Kenites,º² and pitchedºª his tentº unto² the plainº of Zaanaim,º which² [is] by² Kedesh.º 12 And they shewedºª Siseraº that² Barakº the sonº of Abinoamº was gone upºª to mountº Tabor.º 13 And Siseraº gathered togetherºª² all² his chariots,º [even] nineº hundredº chariotsº of iron,º and all² the peopleº that² [were] with² him, from Harosheth¹ of the Gentiles¹²² unto² the riverº of Kishon.º 14 And Deborahº saidºª unto² Barak,º Up;ºª for² this² [is] the dayº in which² the LORDº hath deliveredºª² Siseraº into thine hand:º is not² the LORDº gone outºª beforeº thee? So Barakº went downºª from mountº² Tabor,º and tenº thousandº menº afterº him. 15 And the LORDº discomfitedºª² Sisera,º and all² [his] chariots,º and all² [his] host,º with the edgeº of the swordº beforeº Barak;º so that Siseraº lighted downºª off²² [his] chariot,º and fled awayºª on his feet.º 16 But Barakº pursuedºª afterº the chariots,º and after² the host,º unto² Harosheth¹ of the Gentiles:¹² and all² the hostº of Siseraº fellºª upon the edgeº of the sword;º [and] there was not² a manº left.ºª 17 Howbeit Siseraº fled awayºª on his feetº to² the tentº of Jaelº the wifeº of Heberº the Kenite:º for² [there was] peaceº between² Jabinº the kingº of Hazorº and the houseº of Heberº the Kenite.º

18 ¶ And Jaelº went outºª to meetºª Sisera,º and saidºª unto² him, Turn in,ºª my lord,º turn inºª to² me; fearºª not.² And when he had turned inºª unto² her into the tent,º she coveredºª him with a mantle.º 19 And he saidºª unto² her, Give me, I pray thee,² a littleº waterº to drink;ºª for² I am thirsty.ºª And she openedºª² a bottleº of milk,º and gave him drink,ºª and coveredºª him. 20 Again he saidºª unto² her, Stand² in¹ª the doorº of the tent,º and it shall be,² when² any manº doth comeºª and enquireºª of thee, and say,ºª Is² there¹ª any manº here?¹² that thou shalt say,ºª No.² 21 Then Jaelº Heber'sº wifeº tookºª² a nailº of the tent,º and tookºª² an hammerº in her hand,º and wentºª softlyº unto² him, and smoteºª² the nailº into his temples,¹² and fastenedºª it into the ground:º for he² was fast asleepºª and weary.ºª So he died.ºª 22 And, behold,² as Barakº pursuedºª² Sisera,º Jaelº came outºª to meetºª him, and saidºª unto him, Come,¹ª² and I will shewºª thee² the manº whom² thou² seekest.ºª And when he cameºª into² her [tent], behold,² Siseraº layºª dead,ºª and the nailº [was] in his temples.¹² 23 So Godº subduedºª on that² dayº² Jabinº the kingº of Canaanº beforeº the childrenº of Israel.º 24 And the handº of the childrenº of Israelº prospered,º¹ªª and prevailedº² against² Jabinº the kingº of Canaan,º until²² they had destroyedºª² Jabinº kingº of Canaan.º
