Wickedness goeth often unpunished.

1 ¶ Why,² seeing timesº are not² hiddenºª from the Almighty,º² do they that knowºª him not² seeºª his days?º 2 [Some] removeºª the landmarks;º they violently take awayºª flocks,º and feedºª [thereof]. 3 They drive awayºª the assº of the fatherless,º they take¹ª the widow's¹ ox¹ for a pledge.ºª²² 4 They turnºª the needyº out of the way:º² the poorºª¹ of the earthº hideºª themselves together.º 5 Behold,² [as] wild assesº in the desert,º go they forthºª to their work;º rising betimesºª for a prey:º the wildernessº [yieldeth] foodº for them [and] for [their] children.º 6 They reapºªªª [every one] his cornº in the field:º and they gatherºª the vintageº of the wicked.º 7 They cause the nakedº to lodgeºª without²² clothing,º that [they have] no² coveringº in the cold.º 8 They are wetºª with the showersº² of the mountains,º and embraceºª the rockº for want²² of a shelter.º 9 They pluckºª the fatherlessº from the breast,º² and take a pledgeºª of² the poor.º 10 They cause [him] to goºª nakedº without² clothing,º and they take awayºª the sheafº [from] the hungry;º 11 [Which] make oilºª withinº their walls,º [and] treadºª [their] winepresses,º and suffer thirst.ºª 12 Menº groanºª from out of the city,º² and the soulº of the woundedº crieth out:ºª yet Godº layethºª not² follyº [to them]. 13 They² are² of those that rebelºª against the light;º they knowºª not² the waysº thereof, nor² abideºª in the pathsº thereof. 14 The murdererºª risingºª with the lightº killethºª the poorº and needy,º and in the nightº is² as a thief.º 15 The eyeº also of the adultererºª waitethºª for the twilight,º saying,ºª No² eyeº shall seeºª me: and disguisethººª [his] face.º 16 In the darkº they dig throughºª houses,º [which] they had markedºª for themselves in the daytime:º they knowºª not² the light.º

There is a secret judgment for the wicked.

17 For² the morningº [is] to them even asº the shadow of death:º if² [one] knowºª [them, they are in] the terrorsº of the shadow of death.º 18 He² [is] swiftº as²² the waters;º¹ their portionº is cursedºª in the earth:º he beholdethºª not² the wayº of the vineyards.º 19 Droughtº and² heatº consumeºª the snowº waters:º [so doth] the graveº [those which] have sinned.ºª 20 The wombº shall forgetºª him; the wormº shall feed sweetlyºª on him; he shall be no² more² remembered;ºª and wickednessº shall be brokenºª as a tree.º 21 He evil entreatethºª the barrenº [that] bearethºª not:² and doeth not² goodºª to the widow.º 22 He drawethºª also the mightyº with his power:º he riseth up,ºª and no² [man] is sureºª of life.º 23 [Though] it be givenºª him [to be] in safety,º whereon he resteth;ºª yet his eyesº [are] upon² their ways.º 24 They are exaltedºª for a little while,º but are gone² and brought low;ºª they are taken out¹ª of the way¹² as all² [other], and cut offºª as the topsº of the ears of corn.º 25 And if² [it be] not² [so] now,º who² will make¹ª me a liar,ºª and makeºª my speechº nothing² worth?¹
