The Flying Scroll

1 Then I lifted° up my eyes° again° and looked°, and behold°, [there was] a flying° ascroll°. 2 And he said° to me, “aWhat° do you see°?” And I answered°, “I see° a flying° scroll°; its length° is twenty° Icubits° and its width° ten° cubits°.” 3 Then he said° to me, “This° is the acurse° that is going° forth° over° the face° of the whole° Iland°; surely° everyone° who bsteals° will be purged° away according to IIthe writing on one° side°, and everyone° who cswears° will be purged° away according to IIthe writing on the other side°. 4 I will amake it go° forth°,” declares° the LORD° of hosts°, “and it will benter° the house° of the cthief° and the house° of the one who swears° falsely° by My name°; and it will spend° the night° within° that house° and dconsume° it with its timber° and stones°.”

5 ¶ Then athe angel° who was speaking° with me went° out and said° to me, “Lift° up now° your eyes° and see° what° this° is going° forth°.” 6 I said°, “What° is it?” And he said°, “This° is the Iaephah° going° forth°.” Again he said°, “This° is their IIappearance° in all° the IIIland° 7 (and behold°, a lead° cover° was lifted° up); and this° is a woman° sitting° inside° the ephah°.” 8 Then he said°, “This° is aWickedness°!” And he threw° her down° into the middle° of the ephah° and cast° the lead° weight° on its Iopening°. 9 Then I lifted° up my eyes° and looked°, and there two° women° were coming° out with the wind° in their wings°; and they had wings° like the wings° of a astork°, and they lifted° up the ephah° between° the earth° and the heavens°. 10 I said° to the angel° who was speaking° with me, “Where° are they taking° the ephah°?” 11 Then he said° to me, “To build° a Itemple° for her in the land° of aShinar°; and when it is prepared°, she will be set° there° on her own pedestal°.”

By the flying roll is shewed the curse of thieves and swearers.

1 ¶ Then I turned,ºª and lifted upºª mine eyes,º and looked,ºª and behold² a flyingºª roll.º 2 And he saidºª unto² me, What² seestºª thou?² And I answered,ºª I² seeºª a flyingºª roll;º the lengthº thereof [is] twentyº cubits,º and the breadthº thereof tenº cubits.º 3 Then saidºª he unto² me, This² [is] the curseº that goeth forthºª over² the faceº of the whole² earth:º for² every one² that stealethºª shall be cut offºª [as] on this side²² according¹ to it;² and every² one that swearethºª shall be cut offºª [as] on that side²² according¹ to it.² 4 I will bring it forth,ºª saithºª the LORDº of hosts,º and it shall enterºª into² the houseº of the thief,º and into² the houseº of him that swearethºª falselyº by my name:º and it shall remainºª in the midstº of his house,º and shall consumeºª it with the timberº thereof and the stonesº thereof.

5 ¶ Then the angelº that talkedºª with me went forth,ºª and saidºª unto² me, Lift upºª now² thine eyes,º and seeºª what² [is] this² that goeth forth.ºª 6 And I said,ºª What² [is] it?² And he said,ºª This² [is] an ephahº that goeth forth.ºª He saidºª moreover, This² [is] their resemblanceº through all² the earth.º 7 And, behold,² there was lifted upºª a talentº of lead:º and this² [is] aº womanº that sittethºª in the midstº of the ephah.º 8 And he said,ºª This² [is] wickedness.º And he castºª it into² the midstº of the ephah;º and he castºª² the weightº of leadº upon² the mouthº thereof. 9 Then lifted I upºª mine eyes,º and looked,ºª and, behold,² there came outºª twoº women,º and the windº [was] in their wings;º for they² had¹ wingsº like the wingsº of a stork:º and they lifted upºª² the ephahº between² the earthº and the heaven.º 10 Then saidºª I to² the angelº that talkedºª with me, Whither² do these² bear¹ª²² the ephah?º 11 And he saidºª unto² me, To buildºª it an houseº in the landº of Shinar:º and it shall be established,ºª and set¹ª² there² upon² her own base.º
