Solomon's buildings.

1 ¶ And it came to pass² at the endº² of twentyº years,º wherein² Solomonº had builtºª the houseº of the LORD,º and his own house,º 2 That the citiesº which² Huram¹² had restoredºª to Solomon,º Solomonº builtºª them, and caused² the childrenº of Israelº to dwellºª there.² 3 And Solomonº went¹ª² to Hamathzobah,º and prevailedºª against² it. 4 And he builtºª² Tadmorº in the wilderness,º and all² the storeº cities,º which² he builtºª in Hamath.º 5 Also he builtºª² Bethhoronº the upper,º and Bethhoronº the nether,º fencedº cities,º with walls,º gates,º and bars;º 6 And Baalath,º and all² the storeº citiesº that² Solomonº had,² and all² the chariotº cities,º and the citiesº of the horsemen,º and all² that² Solomonº desiredººª to buildºª in Jerusalem,º and in Lebanon,º and throughout all² the landº of his dominion.º

The Gentiles which were left Solomon made tributaries, but the Israelites, rulers.

7 ¶ [As for] all² the peopleº [that were] leftºª of² the Hittites,º and the Amorites,º and the Perizzites,º and the Hivites,º and the Jebusites,º which² [were] not² of Israel,º² 8 [But] of² their children,º who² were leftºª afterº them in the land,º whom² the childrenº of Israelº consumedºª not,² them did Solomonº make to payºª tributeº until² this² day.º 9 But of² the childrenº of Israelº did Solomonº makeºª no² servantsº for his work;º but² they² [were] men¹² of war,º and chiefº of his captains,º and captainsº of his chariotsº and horsemen.º 10 And these² [were] the chiefº of kingº Solomon'sº officers,ºªª¹ [even] two hundredº and fifty,º that bare ruleºª over the people.º

Pharaoh's daughter removeth to her house.

11 ¶ And Solomonº brought upºª the daughterº of Pharaohº out of the cityº² of Davidº unto the houseº that² he had builtºª for her: for² he said,ºª My wifeº shall not² dwellºª in the houseº of Davidº kingº of Israel,º because² [the places are] holy,º whereunto²² the arkº of the LORDº hath come.ºª

Solomon's yearly solemn sacrifices.

12 ¶ Then² Solomonº offeredºª burnt offeringsº unto the LORDº on² the altarº of the LORD,º which² he had builtºª beforeº the porch,º 13 Even after a certain rateº every day,º offeringºª according to the commandmentº of Moses,º on the sabbaths,º and on the new moons,º and on the solemn feasts,º threeº timesº in the year,º [even] in the feastº of unleavened bread,º and in the feastº of weeks,º and in the feastº of tabernacles.º

He appointeth the priests and Levites to their places.

14 ¶ And he appointed,ºª according to the orderº of Davidº his father,º² the coursesº of the priestsº to² their service,º and the Levitesº to² their charges,º to praiseºª and ministerºª before² the priests,º as the dutyº of every day¹ required:º the portersº also by their coursesº at every gate:º for² so² had Davidº the manº of Godº commanded.º 15 And they departedºª not² from the commandmentº of the kingº unto² the priestsº and Levitesº concerning any² matter,º or concerning the treasures.º 16 Now all² the workº of Solomonº was preparedºª unto² the dayº of the foundationº of the houseº of the LORD,º and until² it was finished.ºª [So] the houseº of the LORDº was perfected.º

The navy fetcheth gold from Ophir.

17 ¶ Then² wentºª Solomonº to Eziongeber,º and to² Eloth,º at² the seaº sideº in the landº of Edom.º 18 And Huramº sentºª him by the handsº of his servantsº ships,ºª and servantsº that had knowledgeºª of the sea;º and they wentºª with² the servantsº of Solomonº to Ophir,º and tookºª thence²² fourº hundredº and fiftyº talentsº of gold,º and broughtºª [them] to² kingº Solomon.º
