God Alone a Refuge from Treachery and Oppression.

For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

  1 aMy soul° [waits] in silence° for God° only°;
  From Him bis my salvation°.
  2 He only° is my arock° and my salvation°,
  My bstronghold°; I shall not be greatly° shaken°.

  3 ¶ How° long° will you assail° a man°,
  That you may murder° [him], all° of you,

  4 They have counseled° only° to thrust° him down° from his high° position°;
  They adelight° in falsehood°;
  They bbless° with Itheir mouth°,
  But inwardly° they curse°.

David, professing his confidence in God, discourageth his enemies.

1 ¶ [[To the chief Musician,ºª to² Jeduthun,º A Psalmº of David.]]º Truly² my soulº waitethº upon² God:º from² him [cometh] my salvation.º 2 He² only² [is] my rockº and my salvation;º [he is] my defence;º I shall not² be greatlyº moved.ºª 3 How long²² will ye imagine mischiefºª against² a man?º ye shall be slainºª all² of you: as a bowingºª wallº [shall ye be, and as] a totteringºª fence.º 4 They only² consultºª to cast [him] downºª from his excellency:º² they delightºª in lies:º they blessºª with their mouth,º but they curseºª inwardly.º Selah.º

9 Surely² men¹¹ of low degree²² [are] vanity,º [and] men¹ of high degree²² [are] a lie:º to be laidºª in the balance,º they² [are] altogetherº [lighter] than vanity.º² 10 Trustºª not² in oppression,º and become not vainºª² in robbery:º if² richesº increase,ºª setºª not² your heartº [upon them].
