Of humanity toward brethren.

1 ¶ Thou shalt not² seeºª² thy brother'sº oxº or²² his sheepº go astray,ºª and hide¹ª thyself² from² them: thou shalt in any case¹ª bring them againºª unto thy brother.º 2 And if² thy brotherº [be] not² nighº unto² thee, or if thou knowºª him not,² then thou shalt bringºª it untoº² thine own house,º and it shall be² with² thee until² thy brotherº seek¹ª after² it, and thou shalt restore² it to him again.¹ª 3 In like mannerº shalt thou doºª with his ass;º and so² shalt thou doºª with his raiment;º and with all² lost thingº of thy brother's,º which² he hath lost,ºª and thou hast found,ºª shalt thou doºª likewise:² thou mayestºª not² hide¹ª thyself.²

4 ¶ Thou shalt not² seeºª² thy brother'sº assº or² his oxº fall downºª by the way,º and hide¹ª thyself² from² them: thou shalt surely¹ª help him to lift [them] up again.ºª²

The sex is to be distinguished by apparel.

5 ¶ The womanº shall not² wear² that which pertainethº unto a man,º neither² shall a manº put¹ª on² a woman'sº garment:º for² all² that doºª soº [are] abominationº unto the LORDº thy God.º

The dam is not to be taken with her young ones.

6 ¶ If² a bird'sº nestº chance¹ª to be² beforeº thee in the wayº in any² tree,º or² on² the ground,º [whether they be] young ones,º or² eggs,º and the damº sittingºª upon² the young,º or² upon² the eggs,º thou shalt not² takeºª the damº with² the young:º 7 [But] thou shalt in any wiseºª² let the damº go,ºª and takeºª the youngº to thee; that² it may be wellºª with thee, and [that] thou mayest prolongºª [thy] days.º

The house must have battlements.

8 ¶ When² thou buildestºª a newº house,º then thou shalt makeºª a battlementº for thy roof,º that thou bringºª not² bloodº upon thine house,º if² any manºª fallºª from² thence.

Confusion is to be avoided.

9 ¶ Thou shalt not² sowºª thy vineyardº with divers seeds:º lest² the fruitº of thy seedº which² thou hast sown,ºª and the fruitº of thy vineyard,º be defiled.ºª

10 ¶ Thou shalt not² plowºª with an oxº and an assº together.º

11 ¶ Thou shalt not² wearºª a garment of divers sorts,º [as] of woollenº and linenº together.º

Fringes upon the vesture.

12 ¶ Thou shalt makeºª thee fringesº upon² the fourº quartersº of thy vesture,º wherewith² thou coverestºª [thyself].

The punishment of him that slandereth his wife.

13 ¶ If² any manº takeºª a wife,º and go inºª unto² her, and hateºª her, 14 And giveºª occasionsº of speechº against her, and bring upºª an evilº nameº upon² her, and say,ºª I tookºª² this² woman,º and when I cameºª to² her, I foundºª her not² a maid:º 15 Then shall the fatherº of the damsel,º and her mother,º takeºª and bring forthºª² [the tokens of] the damsel'sº virginityº unto² the eldersº of the cityº in the gate:º 16 And the damsel'sº fatherº shall sayºª unto² the elders,º I gaveºª² my daughterº unto this² manº to wife,º and he hatethºª her; 17 And, lo,² he² hath givenºª occasionsº of speechº [against her], saying,ºª I foundºª not² thy daughterº a maid;º and yet these² [are the tokens of] my daughter'sº virginity.º And they shall spreadºª the clothº beforeº the eldersº of the city.º 18 And the eldersº of that² cityº shall takeºª² that manº and chastiseºª him; 19 And they shall amerceºª him in an hundredº [shekels] of silver,º and giveºª [them] unto the fatherº of the damsel,º because² he hath brought upºª an evilº nameº upon² a virginº of Israel:º and she shall be² his wife;º he mayºª not² put her awayºª all² his days.º

Of adultery,

20 But if² this² thingº be² true,º [and the tokens of] virginityº be not² foundºª for the damsel:º 21 Then they shall bring outºª² the damselº to² the doorº of her father'sº house,º and the men¹² of her cityº shall stoneºª her with stonesº that she die:ºª because² she hath wroughtºª follyº in Israel,º to play the whoreºª in her father'sº house:º so shalt thou put¹ª evil¹ awayºª² from amongº² you.

22 ¶ If² a manº be foundºª lyingºª with² a womanº marriedºª to an husband,º then they shall both²² of them¹ die,ºª [both] the manº that layºª with² the woman,º and the woman:º so shalt thou put awayºª evilº from Israel.º²

23 ¶ If² a damselº [that is] a virginº be² betrothedºª unto an husband,º and a manº findºª her in the city,º and lieºª with² her; 24 Then ye shall bring¹ª them both¹ out²²² unto² the gateº of that² city,º and ye shall stoneºª them with stonesº that they die;ºª² the damsel,º becauseºº² she criedºª not,² [being] in the city;º and the man,º becauseºº² he hath humbledºª² his neighbour'sº wife:º so thou shalt put awayºª evilº from amongº² you.

25 ¶ But if² a manº findºª² a betrothedºª damselº in the field,º and the manº forceºª her, and lieºª with² her: then the manº only² that² layºª with² her shall die:ºª 26 But unto the damselº thou shalt doºª nothing;º² [there is] in the damselº no² sinº [worthy] of death:º for² as² when a manº risethºª against² his neighbour,º and slayethººªª him, even so² [is] this² matter:º 27 For² he foundºª her in the field,º [and] the betrothedºª damselº cried,ºª and [there was] none² to saveºª her.

and of fornication.

28 ¶ If² a manº findºª a damselº [that is] a virgin,º which² is not² betrothed,ºª and lay holdºª on her, and lieºª with² her, and they be found;ºª 29 Then the manº that layºª with² her shall giveºª unto the damsel'sº fatherº fiftyº [shekels] of silver,º and she shall be² his wife;º because²² he hath humbledºª her, he mayºª not² put her awayºª all² his days.º

Incest.

30 ¶ A manº shall not² takeºª² his father'sº wife,º nor² discoverºª his father'sº skirt.º
