Numbers 25:6-
8 And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren
a Midianitish woman
in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who [
were]
weeping [
before] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. ... And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and
thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly.
So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
Numbers 25:14-
15 Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, [
even] that was slain with the Midianitish woman, [
was] Zimri, the son of Salu,
a prince of a
chief house among the Simeonites. ... And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain [
was] Cozbi, the daughter of
Zur; he [
was] head over a people, [
and] of a chief house in Midian.
Deuteronomy 13:9-
11 But thou shalt surely kill him;
thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. ... And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.
Deuteronomy 13:15-
17 Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword,
destroying it utterly, and all that [
is] therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword. ... And there shall
cleave nought of the
cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger,
and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee,
and multiply thee,
as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;
Joshua 7:12 Therefore
the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, [
but] turned [
their] backs before their enemies, because
they were accursed:
neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.
1 Kings 18:40-
41 And Elijah said unto them,
Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook
Kishon, and
slew them there. ... And Elijah said unto Ahab,
Get thee up, eat and drink; for [
there is] a sound of abundance of rain.
Jonah 1:12-
15 And he said unto them,
Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you:
for I know that for my sake this great tempest [
is] upon you. ... So
they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea:
and the sea
ceased from her raging.
