Mark 13:13
_ _ And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake Matthew (Matthew 24:12) adds this important intimation: “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many” “of the many,” or “of the most,” that is, of the generality of professed disciples “shall wax cold.” Sad illustrations of the effect of abounding iniquity in cooling the love even of faithful disciples we have in the Epistle of James, written about the period here referred to, and too frequently ever since.
_ _ but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved See on Matthew 10:21, Matthew 10:22; and compare Hebrews 10:38, Hebrews 10:39, which is a manifest allusion to these words of Christ; also Revelation 2:10. Luke (Luke 21:18) adds these reassuring words: “But there shall not an hair of your heads perish.” Our Lord had just said (Luke 21:16) that they should be put to death; showing that this precious promise is far above immunity from mere bodily harm, and furnishing a key to the right interpretation of Psalms 91:1 -18 and such like. |

Matthew 5:11-12 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. ... Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. Luke 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you [from their company], and shall reproach [you], and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Luke 21:17 And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake. John 15:18-19 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you. ... If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 1 John 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
