Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary

Isaiah 54:13

_ _ Quoted by the Saviour (John 6:45), to prove that in order to come to Him, men must be “drawn” by the Father. So Jeremiah 31:34; Micah 4:2; 1 Corinthians 2:10; Hebrews 8:10; Hebrews 10:16; 1 John 2:20.

_ _ great ... peace — generally (Psalms 119:165). Specially referring to the peaceful prosperity which shall prevail under Messiah in the latter days (Isaiah 2:4, Isaiah 9:6).

Matthew Henry's Commentary

See commentary on Isaiah 54:11-17.

John Wesley's Explanatory Notes

Isaiah 54:13

Taught — Not only outwardly by his word, but inwardly by his spirit. The peace — Inward peace arising from the clear discoveries of God's love and reconciliation to us, and wrought by the spirit of adoption, which is more abundantly given to believers under the gospel, than under the law. Outward peace, safety, and happiness.

Geneva Bible Translation Notes

Isaiah 54:13

And all thy children [shall be] (l) taught from the LORD; and great [shall be] the peace of thy children.

(l) By the hearing of his word and inward moving of his spirit.
