New American Standard Bible (NASB ©1995) [2]
— so that all the trees by the waters may not be exalted in their stature, nor set their top among the clouds, nor their well-watered mighty ones stand [erect] in their height. For they have all been given over to death, to the earth beneath, among the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit.”
King James Version (KJV 1769) [2]
— To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
English Revised Version (ERV 1885)
— to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, neither set their top among the thick boughs, nor that their mighty ones stand up in their height, [even] all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
American Standard Version (ASV 1901) [2]

Darby's Translation (DBY 1890)
— to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, nor set their top amidst the thick boughs, and that none of them that drink water stand up in his height by himself; for they are all given over unto death in the lower parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
Rotherham's Emphasized Bible (EBR 1902)
— To the end that none of the trees of the waters—May exalt themselves in their stature, Or stretch their top among the clouds, Nor their mighty ones take their stand in their height—any that drink of the waters,—Because, they all, are delivered to death, Unto the earth below, In the midst of the sons of Adam, Amongst them who descend into the pit.
Young's Literal Translation (YLT 1898)
— In order that none of the trees of the waters May become haughty because of their stature, Nor give their foliage between thickets, Nor any drinking waters stand up unto them in their haughtiness, For all of them are given up to death, Unto the earth—the lower part, In the midst of the sons of men, Unto those going down to the pit.
Douay-Rheims Challoner Revision (DR 1750)

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary

Ezekiel 31:14

_ _ trees by the waters — that is, that are plentifully supplied by the waters: nations abounding in resources.

_ _ stand up in their height — that is, trust in their height: stand upon it as their ground of confidence. Fairbairn points the Hebrew differently, so as for “their trees,” to translate, “(And that none that drink water may stand) on themselves, (because of their greatness).” But the usual reading is better, as Assyria and the confederate states throughout are compared to strong trees. The clause, “All that drink water,” marks the ground of the trees’ confidence “in their height,” namely, that they have ample sources of supply. Maurer, retaining the same Hebrew, translates, “that neither their terebinth trees may stand up in their height, nor all (the other trees) that drink water.”

_ _ to ... nether ... earth ... pit — (Ezekiel 32:18; Psalms 82:7).

Matthew Henry's Commentary

See commentary on Ezekiel 31:10-18.
