Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary

1 Corinthians 14:31

_ _ For ye may — rather, “For ye can [if ye will] all prophesy one by one,” giving way to one another. The “for” justifies the precept (1 Corinthians 14:30), “let the first hold his peace.”

Matthew Henry's Commentary

See commentary on 1 Corinthians 14:26-33.

John Wesley's Explanatory Notes

1 Corinthians 14:31

All — Who have that gift. That all may learn — Both by speaking and by hearing.
