Matthew 8:11-
12 And I say unto you,
That many shall come from the east and west, and
shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob,
in the kingdom of heaven. ... But
the children of the kingdom shall
be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 19:30 But many [
that are] first shall be last; and the last [
shall be] first.
Matthew 20:16 So
the last shall be first, and the first last:
for many be called, but few chosen.
Matthew 21:31 Whether of them twain
did the will of [
his] father? They say unto him,
The first. Jesus saith unto them,
Verily I say unto you, That
the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
Luke 7:29-
30 And all the people that heard [
him], and the publicans,
justified God,
being baptized with the baptism of John. ... But the Pharisees and lawyers
rejected the counsel of God
against themselves, being not baptized of him.
Luke 7:40-
47 And Jesus
answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith,
Master, say on. ... Wherefore I say unto thee,
Her sins,
which are many, are forgiven; for
she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [
the same] loveth little.
Luke 13:30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
Luke 18:11-
14 The Pharisee
stood and prayed thus with himself,
God, I thank thee, that I am not
as other men [
are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ... I tell you, this man
went down to his house
justified [
rather] than the other: for
every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Acts 13:46-
48 Then Paul and Barnabas
waxed bold, and said,
It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but
seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we
turn to the Gentiles. ... And when the Gentiles heard this,
they were glad, and
glorified the word of the Lord:
and as many as were
ordained to eternal life believed.
Romans 9:30-
33 What
shall we say then? That
the Gentiles, which
followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness,
even the righteousness which is of faith. ... As it is written,
Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence:
and whosoever believeth on him shall not be
ashamed.
