The proclamation of Cyrus for the building of the Temple.

1 ¶ Now in the firstº yearº of Cyrusº kingº of Persia,º that the wordº of the LORDº by the mouthº² of Jeremiahº might be fulfilled,ºª the LORDº stirred upºª² the spiritº of Cyrusº kingº of Persia,º that he made a proclamationººª throughout all² his kingdom,º and [put it] also² in writing,º saying,ºª 2 Thus² saithºª Cyrusº kingº of Persia,º The LORDº Godº of heavenº hath givenºª me all² the kingdomsº of the earth;º and he² hath chargedºª² me to buildºª him an houseº at Jerusalem,º which² [is] in Judah.º 3 Who² [is there] among you of all²² his people?º his Godº be² with² him, and let him go upºª to Jerusalem,º which² [is] in Judah,º and buildºª² the houseº of the LORDº Godº of Israel,º (he² [is] the God,)º which² [is] in Jerusalem.º 4 And whosoever² remainethºª in any²² placeº where² he² sojourneth,ºª let the men¹² of his placeº helpºª him with silver,º and with gold,º and with goods,º and with beasts,º beside² the freewill offeringº for the houseº of Godº that² [is] in Jerusalem.º

The people provide for the return.

5 ¶ Then rose upºª the chiefº of the fathersº of Judahº and Benjamin,º and the priests,º and the Levites,º with all² [them]² whose spiritº Godº had raised,ºª to go upºª to buildºª² the houseº of the LORDº which² [is] in Jerusalem.º 6 And all² they that [were] aboutº them strengthenedºª their handsº with vesselsº of silver,º with gold,º with goods,º and with beasts,º and with precious things,º beside all²²² [that] was willingly offered.ºª

Cyrus restoreth the vessels of the Temple to Sheshbazzar.

7 ¶ Also Cyrusº the kingº brought forthºª² the vesselsº of the houseº of the LORD,º which² Nebuchadnezzarº had brought forthºª out of Jerusalem,º² and had putºª them in the houseº of his gods;º 8 Even those did Cyrusº kingº of Persiaº bring forthºª by² the handº of Mithredathº the treasurer,º and numberedºª them unto Sheshbazzar,º the princeº of Judah.º 9 And this² [is] the numberº of them: thirtyº chargersº of gold,º a thousandº chargersº of silver,º nineº and twentyº knives,º 10 Thirtyº basonsº of gold,º silverº basonsº of a secondº [sort] fourº hundredº and ten,º [and] otherº vesselsº a thousand.º 11 All² the vesselsº of goldº and of silverº [were] fiveº thousandº and fourº hundred.º All² [these] did Sheshbazzarº bring upºª with² [them of] the captivityº that were brought upºª from Babylonº² unto Jerusalem.º
