_ _ desolation — literally, “a tumultuous noise,” denoting their utter confusion.

_ _ destruction — or calamity (Proverbs 1:26) compared to a whirlwind, as to fatal rapidity.

_ _ anguish — a state of inextricable oppression, the deepest despair.
