Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary

Matthew 7:27

_ _ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house — struck against that house;

_ _ and it fell: and great was the fall of it — terrible the ruin! How lively must this imagery have been to an audience accustomed to the fierceness of an Eastern tempest, and the suddenness and completeness with which it sweeps everything unsteady before it!
