_ _ Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither ... behold ... put it into my side, and be not faithless, but believing — “There is something rhythmical in these words, and they are purposely couched in the words of Thomas himself, to put him to shame” [Luthardt]. But wish what condescension and gentleness is this done!
