Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary

Jeremiah 31:36

_ _ a nation — Israel’s national polity has been broken up by the Romans. But their preservation as a distinct people amidst violent persecutions, though scattered among all nations for eighteen centuries, unamalgamated, whereas all other peoples under such circumstances have become incorporated with the nations in which they have been dispersed, is a perpetual standing miracle (compare Jeremiah 33:20; Psalms 148:6; Isaiah 54:9, Isaiah 54:10).

Matthew Henry's Commentary

See commentary on Jeremiah 31:35-40.

John Wesley's Explanatory Notes

Jeremiah 31:36

Those ordinances — The ordinances of nature, which are God's establishments for the working of natural causes in their order.
