_ _ ye shall be left few in number — There has been, ever since the destruction of Jerusalem, only an inconsiderable remnant of Jews existing in that land — aliens in the land of their fathers; and of all classes of the inhabitants they are the most degraded and miserable beings, dependent for their support on contributions from other lands. |
