Jeremiah 9:9-
11 Shall I not visit them for these [
things]? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? ... And I will make
Jerusalem heaps, [
and]
a den of dragons; and I will make
the cities of Judah
desolate, without an inhabitant.
Jeremiah 18:16 To
make their land desolate, [
and]
a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby
shall be astonished, and wag his head.
Jeremiah 25:18 [
To wit],
Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof,
to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse;
as [it is] this day;
Jeremiah 49:13 For
I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that
Bozrah shall become
a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.
Jeremiah 50:13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate:
every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.
Leviticus 26:32 And I will bring the land into desolation:
and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?
2 Chronicles 7:20-

I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it [

a proverb and a byword among all nations. ... And
this house, which is high, shall be an
astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say,
Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?
Lamentations 2:15-

that pass by clap [
their] hands at thee;
they hiss and
wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, [
saying, Is] this the city that [
men] call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? ... All
thine enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they hiss and
gnash the teeth: they say,
We have swallowed [
her] up: certainly this [
is] the day that we looked for; we have found,
we have seen [
it].
Zephaniah 2:15 This [
is]
the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart,
I [am], and [
there is] none beside me:
how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in!
every one that passeth by her shall hiss, [
