Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary

Colossians 1:25

_ _ amGreek, “I was made a minister”: resuming Colossians 1:23, “whereof I Paul was made a minister.”

_ _ dispensation — the stewardship committed to me to dispense in the house of God, the Church, to the whole family of believers, the goods of my Master (Luke 12:42; 1 Corinthians 4:1, 1 Corinthians 4:2; 1 Corinthians 9:17; Ephesians 3:2).

_ _ which is givenGreek, “which was given.”

_ _ for you — with a view to you, Gentiles (Colossians 1:27; Romans 15:16).

_ _ to fulfil — to bring it fully to all: the end of his stewardship: “fully preached” (Romans 15:19). “The fullness of Christ (Colossians 1:19), and of the times (Ephesians 1:10) required him so to do” [Bengel].
